🎓Why I Created the Academy - A Note from Matt

I didn’t have this growing up.
My parents weren’t musicians. We didn’t know where to turn, who to study with, which schools to apply to, or what rep to play.

I built the Matt Howard High School Academy to give high school percussionists what I never had:
✔️ Elite training
✔️ Audition prep
✔️ Personalized college counseling

We’re only accepting 5 Core Members this year.

If you’re serious about music and want to pursue top-tier college programs, this is for you.

I will be presenting a free 30 minute class on Thursday March 28, 2024 at 1:30pm PST, discussing techniques and sounds for orchestral cymbal playing. Playing cymbals in orchestra comes with opportunities to display creativity and sound possibilities that no other instruments offer. Some of the most satisfying moments in the orchestral repertoire lie in the cymbal part. Come learn the fundamentals that help me achieve the sounds I use all of the time with the LA Phil. Spots are limited! Tag other percussionists that would benefit from this. See you all there!
