🌎🚲 Foro Mundial de la Bicicleta 12 A.C. 🚲🌎
We’re excited to share some powerful news with our community.
Following the recent Burning Man Festival (Aug. 24 – Sept. 1 in Black Rock City, Nevada), where around 300 bicycles were donated to FMB12 for their efforts in Mexico, our friends at Foro Mundial de la Bicicleta 12 A.C. (FMB12) set out on a mission: to collect bicycles that will be crossed into Mexico and delivered to underserved communities in the south.
As part of this journey, FMB12 built connections across California. From Bikes del Pueblo and Chinga la Migra in San Diego, to here in Los Angeles with Esquina Bicycle Shop 💜. We proudly donated bicycles to support their work in Mexico, where these rides will become tools for mobility.
They also formed a new partnership with Clínica Jireth (better known as Patrulla Espiritual) in Tijuana, where a symbolic tricycle was delivered as the first seed of this emerging alliance. This was one of those tazos dorados moments— rare, valuable, and a sign of bigger things to come.
While visiting us, FMB12 also met my dad and heard his story— a bittersweet moment, as he prepares to close his shop this coming October (Rey’s Bicycle Shop on Beverly blvd). It was a reminder that behind every bicycle there are families, histories, and struggles that connect across borders.
At Esquina, we’re humbled and proud to now be officially part of the FMB12 organization, which means you’ll be seeing us alongside them a lot more. 👉🏽 Esquina in Oaxaca and Chiapas? Imagine that!!!! 🤯
This January, we plan to join the caravan to Chiapas, where the bicycles will be delivered directly to EZLN communities— bringing mobility, and solidarity.
The Foro Mundial de la Bicicleta 12 A.C. doesn’t just move bicycles. They move dreams, resistance, and justice. And for us in Boyle Heights, a place that knows struggle and resilience — it’s an honor to stand with them in this collective fight.
Con mucho respeto,
Esquina Bicycle Shop
