The very first tenant of Bushido is not combat skill. It is not the willingness to die for one’s lord. It is not fearlessness. The very first tenant of the Bushido Code is Jin, translating as “Compassion”. The Samurai were charged with the authority to mete justice, and I think it is particularly important to note that compassion is the cornerstone of that charge. Please hold this idea close to your heart and reflect on its meaning in your personal experiences.
