No days off. 🙃 Lol jk, there were definitely days off!

But when we found ourselves staying at the end of the fitness trail, my Marathon Stick was right there with me to knock the rust off for some morning workouts. Even snuck in some recovery on the deck after chasing the kids on the beach all day when the storms rolled in.

You crushed your workout yesterday. So why do your legs feel worse today?

That’s DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and it’s completely normal. When you stress your muscles with movements like running, squats, or lunges, tiny micro-tears form in the muscle fibers. Your body responds to the tears with inflammation and repair. That process peaks 24–48 hours after the effort, not right after.

The good news is DOMS means your body is adapting. The better news is you don’t have to just sit there and wait it out. Rolling with The Original Stick increases circulation to those sore areas, helps move metabolic waste out of the tissue, and gives your nervous system a chance to dial down that protective tension so you can move better, sooner.

For warmups, the Marathon Stick is my go-to. It’s our most flexible option, making it a little more forgiving on the muscle. I’m not trying to beat myself up before a run, just loosen things up and get the blood flowing.

🎦 2: Start by rolling along the shin focusing on the Tibialis Anterior (controls dorsiflexion and inversion of the ankle)
🎦 3: Outside of the leg rolling the Fibularis Longus (controls plantar flexion and eversion of the ankle)
🎦 4: Rolling down the center of the calf, knee to heel. Giving attention to the Gastrocnemius, Soleus, and the Achilles tendon
🎦 5 & 6: Outside and inside of the calf. This will help hit both heads of the Gastrocnemius muscle.

For years I couldn’t go more than 6 weeks without tweaking something and being sidelined. Consistent use of the Marathon Stick changed that, and I’ve finally been able to enjoy running again.

3 - 5 times a week, 10-15 passes per area, adjusting pressure as needed.
