Well after a few months of keeping this under wraps, I was able to meet up with Jennifer Soriano and get a good photo with her to help announce that I am the proud owner of the first tinbe she painted in collaboration with Mark Johnston who is making them off of the mold that my dear departed friend Don Shapland created while we were both in Okinawa. The quality is out of this world with a good heavy shell and sturdy handle. Nice work Mark. The painting is fantastic. This is going on a wall and will not see much use as I am going to treat it as the art piece that it is. Luckily I have a few other tinbe that I can bang around.

https://youtu.be/IOAzltMLCcM Many people struggle with the hanzadachi. This is the one leg bent and one leg straight in a crouch stance seen in the Sakugawa kata as well as a few other kata. It requires good balance, range of motion, and strength. I am dealing with a problem in my right hip, so this stance has become a challenge for me. I developed a simple method for training this stance using a bo held between two training partners. We can grasp the bo and use our arms to take some strain off the legs and joints while we rebuild strength and range.
