Long Prairie-Grey Eagle turned in another electric performance on the track, powered by event wins, personal bests, and big-time finishes across the board.
Senior standout Nathan Bitz once again led the charge for the Thunder. Bitz sprinted to a victory in the boys 200 meters with a blazing 22.56 despite tough headwinds, while also taking fourth in a loaded 100-meter field. He wasn’t done there — the versatile senior added a runner-up finish in the 300-meter hurdles and even cleared 11-10 in the pole vault to cap off an incredible all-around day.
Sophomore wheelchair athlete Robert Kendall delivered one of the most dominant performances of the meet. Kendall swept every one of his events, winning the wheelchair 100, 200, 400, and seated shot put. Even more impressive, he posted three personal bests during the meet, including PB performances in the 200 meters, 400 meters, and seated shot put, continuing an outstanding season of improvement.
The Thunder boys also saw major breakthroughs in the hurdles. Sophomore Aiden Ludvigson had one of the best meets of his season, racing to a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles before following it up with another PB in the 300 hurdles. His strong finishes showed how quickly he continues to develop as one of the team’s rising athletes.
On the girls side, Katelyn Jones continued to prove herself as one of the area’s top athletes. The senior earned a second-place finish in the 100 meters, then came back to place fourth in the 200 and third in the 400, scoring valuable points in all three events.
Ninth grader Mializ Perez added another strong finish in the 400 meters, while the young hurdle crew continued making strides. Eighth grader Nashla Henriquez raced to a personal best in the 100 hurdles, highlighting another big improvement for the Thunder underclassmen. Freshman Cierra Kuehne also competed in both hurdle events, gaining valuable experience heading deeper into the season.
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle finished the meet with an impressive collection of victories, podium finishes, and five personal best performances. As the postseason draws closer, the Thunder continue building momentum and confidence with every competition.
