A great group of NSM Track & Field Seniors graduated tonight. These folks were critical to our program taking another big step forward. I can’t tell you how thankful I am that these great kids were part of the program. YOU ALL WILL BE MISSED! We are better and will continue to be because each of you was one of us. Love ya’ll! Senior shoutout:
Blake Middlebrooks

So glad to have had Blake with us this season. Fantastic person and great addition to the team. Blake’s best run was at sectional. He improved all season long.

We have another senior to recognize: A.J. Williams
A.J. was a pleasure to coach. He had a great combination of coachable, good teammate, and talented. You can’t have too many with THAT combo!
A.J. had a very successful track and field career with us at NSM. He had a plethora of medals in multiple events over his time. He has been a significant contributor in the elevation of our NSM track and field program over the last few years. This excellent career culminated with a trip to Cullman to the state championships as part of our 4x400m relay team this season. He was one place at sectional from qualifying in the 300m hurdles as well. That is just the type of athlete and competitor that A.J. is.
We will miss you A.J. !! Roll Herd!

There’s another senior I’d like to recognize. Owen Brooks. O!!!
Outstanding track career so far. Has just continued to improve every year. Has the greatest of the abilities: reliability and coachability. Add in being a good athlete and it is obvious that Owen will be difficult to replace.
Owen will continue to have success in life. People of his quality and character usually do. Best wishes going forward O! We will miss you! Roll Herd!

I wanted to highlight a senior that’s been competing on our team for many years. He hit top 5 at sectional this year but just barely missed the state qualifying standard.
He has been a plug and play guy for the last 4 years. Wherever we needed someone no matter the event, he stepped up and competed. It’s gonna be a significant change not having this guy with us next year. Whether it was track events or field events, he has been snagging points for us for a long time.
Coach Korb, the Korbinator, Korbin Arnold. Thank you for everything Korb! This thumbs up is for you! 👍 (inside joke) 😁

I did some research for those folks that asked. This was the first medals won by NSM track & field athletes at the AHSAA state championships in 17 years. And relays get 4 of them to boot. So proud of these guys and all of the 11 kids that made state out of the 20 that competed at sectionals. I believe that is a record number as well. Roll Herd!
