The martial art of Okinawan Goju-Ryu first organized by Chojun Miyagi, is for true combat, and is not suited at all for modern day karate point fighting. Instead, the the use of hard linear whip like techniques, soft circular movements, forty five degree angle evasions, focused attacks to vitals such as open hand strikes to the eyes, punches to the groin and neck, followed by rips, tears, grabs, t
hrows, joint locks, kicks and gouges, all make up what is now Nisei Goju-Ryu. It is our goal to teach the truest form of Nisei as a self defense, that can later be applied to sports, whether it be full contact karate, MMA, or fights in the UFC. Nisei Goju-Ryu is taught under Shihan Frank Pogliani, founder of American Combat Karate and 8th degree black belt in Nisei Goju.
