Here is a little humor for ya! This gem featuring the 1953 crew from the Chubasco, doing what they do, best?

Its ! Here is an incredible shot of Chubasco in all her glory! She is a 67 foot yawl designed by Sparkman and Stephens. Chubasco has been participating in the Transpac race for years.
1939 second in A class and 5th in fleet
1947 first to finish, first class A, 3rd overall
1953 third to finish, first in class A, 2nd overall
1959 2nd to finish, first in class B, and 2nd overall
1961 2nd class A, 4th overall.
1967 SORC. 3rd overall and first to finish in three out of six races.
1969 SORC 6th overall
1970 SORC 10th overall
She participated in the 2017 and in 2019 she was the oldest boat in the race.

From the Transpac Fb page;
campaigned by Tom Akin, John Carpenter, Doug Baker and Will Durant has a long history in Transpac, having been built in 1937, and went through an extensive refit of 2 1/2 years to be the winning team this year.

A moment of silence was observed in the awards ceremony this week for crew member Jim Lincoln who passed after the conclusion of the race. The crew saluted Jim while accepting their award to tribute their Boat Manager.

The Chubasco team and crew are saddened by the passing of Boat Manager Jim Lincoln. Jim had just competed in the 50th Transpac on board the class winner Chubasco. He passed away in his sleep on July 24th, 4 days after finishing the race. He was a fixture in the Long Beach sailing community, a member of Alamitos Bay Yacht Club and will be truely missed.
