When rising freshman Greg Gatti started coming to me in May his 1 rep max on box squat was 160lbs. Today he got 195lbs!! Is it possible that in 3 months Greg has packed on so much muscle that he’s added 35lbs to his squat? Sure I guess, but unlikely.
Of course Greg has gained muscle in his first summer prepping for HS football, but more important than that he’s shown up 2x a week every week all summer learning the proper technique. His form getting better has had much more of an impact on his numbers going up. My point being, no one knows how to squat or hinge or press etc. the first time they do it. They need to be taught and they need to be taught properly!! INVEST IN YOUR YOUTH/HS ATHLETES DEVELOPMENT!! IT WILL BE WORTH IT!! So proud of Greg and the work he put in this summer 💪🏼

Beware the quiet man…

For while others speak,
He listens.

While others attack,
He plans.

And when they rest,
He strikes.

410lbs + 50 # ⛓ ⛓’s
Do the work.

DYNAMIC EFFORT!

Even the most elite athletes can only sustain training max weight so many times a week before they wear out.
So how do we continue to train max force output while not lifting max weight?
The answer is the dynamic effort method. On dynamic days, we are lifting a sub max weight on the bar, with as much velocity as possible.
Moving our sub max as fast as possible *with proper form* increases an athletes force production.
Athletes are asked to explode out of the bottom of the lift, and accommodating resistance in the form of bands or chains puts an emphasis on this.
By flipping that strength curve, athletes are forced to explode out of the bottom of their lift in order to avoid deceleration on the way up!

Are my guys that come multiple times a week so in addition to their max effort days, they get to work in a dynamic day as well! Luckily we don’t play Chaminade next year so I’m not digging my own grave with Alex and Mateo quite yet 😂 💪🏼

⛵️🔥 MENTAL HEALTH ⛵️🔥
Today’s post is less about the video and more about the caption.
This week is men’s mental health week. All to often the phrase “man up” is misused.
Life is full of adversity and at certain times you do have to dig deep and push through it,
That’s not what I’m talking about.

I’m talking about the people out there who feel alone and feel like there’s no where else to turn. That’s not time to “man up”
That’s the time to be smart and talk to someone, and get help if you need help.
If you’re on the other side of that and a friend comes to you for help be there for them and care for them!
True Friendship is one of the best gifts you can offer someone in life.

I’m coming up on 6 months into my career as a personal trainer and I don’t think I’ve ever been better mentally. I’m in an environment everyday where I am gifted the opportunity to better myself, help better others, and be around people I love all day.
Even with all that going for me, mental health is a daily battle for me like it is for a lot of us. Waking up this morning I just wasn’t myself, we all have days like this. I didn’t want to go lift, I didn’t want to go work, but I know how important working out is to my mental health and how beneficial it can be for all of our mental health! Shocker, the best part of my day today was the couple hours I was at work doing what I love.

No ones got you like you got you and we all have a responsibility to ourselves to be the best version of ourselves we can.
-getting enough sleep
-eating right
-working out
-drinking plenty of water
Are all things we can do to put ourselves in the best possible position to take care of our mental health.
Love yourself
Love others
You’re never alone

🚨 UPDATE 🚨
Sean is still kickin ass every week. Sean is now in his 2nd 4 week program, and we introduced tempo on his back squat. Sean is starting to get comfortable at the bottom of his squat and beginning to realize what he has to do with his chest back and knees in order to get to his depth.
There has not been one thing that I’ve thrown at Sean that he hasn’t attacked head on and accomplished. Every singe session the load has gone up on every single exercise, and yet he continues to rise to the occasion. Outside of the weight room Sean is enjoying his JV football season and falling in the love with the game which makes me insanely happy to hear! 💪🏼

🚨 NEW CLIENT ALERT 🚨

came in today and crushed his first full body workout.
Here he is completing trap bar deadlifts with a 3 second eccentric; very hard to do but my guy makes it look easy here.
Sean is a sophomore in HS and is going to give football a try this season.
We are going to make him stronger and more mobile and turn this young man into a beast 💪🏼
Sean is naturally very strong and I can’t wait to see where his training takes him.
I couldn’t be more excited to have my first football athlete! Let’s GOOOOOOOO 💪🏼 🚀 🏈

There is no room for your ego in the gym.
Something I have to tell myself everyday since I am not as strong as my training partners (yet😉)

🎥 1st: Myself @ 225lbs

🎥 2nd: The Athlete’s Blueprint @ 275lbs

🎥 3rd: Nigro @ 320lbs

Could I have gotten into the squat rack today and held 320lbs on my back? Sure, but what would have that done for me? A WHOLE LOTTA NOTHIN. There’s a 0% chance I would’ve hit my depth, and a good chance I would have hurt myself trying to do so.

You have the rest of your life to get strong, and believe me, we will get strong in here...but let’s work on form and tempo first.

DM me and let’s talk about getting you started...the right way 🔥⛵️

Hello all, I recently received my certification to become a personal trainer and have begun my career at a great location.
Whether it was training for HS/College Football or training post career, the gym was and still is the best spot for me to better myself and I know there are so many other athletes who share that feeling. The feeling of the gym being the safe space, and the time to work. I always want to be around athletes who want to get better and love to compete.

On the flip of that, I also know how many others there are out there who are overweight and afraid of working out due to lack of knowledge or self confidence issues. I know this because I have struggled my whole life with my weight and still do today, and am still trying to better myself everyday in that regard.
The self confidence and mental toughness the gym has given me over the years can not be matched anywhere else. The opportunity to offer that experience and feeling to others was the driving force that pushed me into this field; the chance to help others.

What I can't offer you:
-A guarantee that training will be easy
-Fad diets and trendy social media workouts
-Someone who will coddle you

What I can offer you:
-A coach who will care about you and genuinely want you to succeed and do well.
-A program made specific to your needs and goals
- A chance to better yourself mentally and physically

Reach out to me! All shapes sizes and skill levels and lets talk about when we can get you in for an evaluation!!!
