Job Summary
The purpose and function of this role is to effectively and regularly communicate with new customers and existing clients, provide retail customer service in a non-commission based sales environment, maintain and organize inventory, regularly update store displays, schedule classes and work directly with suppliers as well as perform basic administrative functions.
Key / Essential Functions:
Scuba Sales
Scheduling of multiple classes and communicate with all departments and clients
An understanding of PADI course structure
Maintain communication with customers & suppliers
Help plan for continued growth and improved customer service
Inventory maintenance (receiving, ordering, stocking, storing, etc)
Keep scuba retail and rental areas clean and free of clutter
Store appearance (displays, organization, cleaning, trash pickup)
Filling tanks, visual inspections
Receiving/returning service & repairs
Shipping assistance with Service department
Occasionally assist at out-of-facility and after hours events, including but not limited to:
Club Meetings, Conventions, Underwater Cleanups, etc
Qualifications and Skills
Exceptional customer-service skills
Sales knowledge/experience (note: NOT a commission position)
Scuba equipment knowledge (brands, function, safety, features, etc) desired
An understanding of PADI course structure
Effective communicator both verbal and written
Diligent, coherent note-taking
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Experience with Google Applications, MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook, must be comfortable working with spreadsheets
Exposure to accounting is an asset, aptitude and passion for working with numbers a must
Climb ladders on occasion, lift scuba tanks and gear, work in a wet environment
Professional Dive Rating - preferably PADI, but SDI/NAUI also acceptable
While a Scuba industry position, please do not consider this an “in-water” position as 95% of the job is retail-oriented. There is potential for Divemaster/Instructor work but it is freelance and outside of work hours. Competitive pay - depends on experience. Hourly pay.
