The TRUE Lotte Berk technique pulls in your waist, hips and thighs -- what girl wouldn’t want that? Lotte believed whatever your shape may be, this method of exercise

will make it more feminine, more svelte, and allow clothes to hang more beautifully on your frame. We wanted to create a studio to empower women and create a supportive community around Lotte’s original techniques. Oh this ONE! This one took some time for me to achieve & it’s truly a daily practice to not fall back into old habits of looking outside myself for validation.

It’s always in my 🤍 even though I am not on here talking about it every Sunday anymore, so wanted to share this one.

I used to call this road I was on “The Journey Back to Berk” but I learned along the way (with a lil nudge from the late & great ) that it wad actually a “Journey back to Me”.

This isn’t modern barre.

This is the ORIGINAL.

We have a very special May 23rd moment today. We were in England filming our manual for tLm. The fabulous was at the helm, downloading all her wisdom of to us & Pam was pregnant w/ her daughter Piper.

Here is Esther teaching Pam the OG move:

Cross, Open, Stretch, Bend (yep, named just how it looks & sounds 😘)

Notice the subtle movements of the tiny pulses, the stability in the core & the upper body as the strength is being built in both the supporting & working leg.

This month’s theme is CONFIDENCE and there is no better place to find it than here, in the very first barre section of the class.
Because the moment you stand tall at the barre, find your alignment, and begin this work with precision and intention something immediatly shifts. Not just in your body, but In YOU!

Here’s what I 🤍 most about what is happening physically that creates that shift:

🤍Your quadriceps and hamstrings are lengthening and strengthening simultaneously, building the kind of deep, functional strength that makes you feel capable in your body every single day.

🤍The upright, postural nature of this section directly affects your nervous system. Research shows that tall, aligned posture reduces cortisol and genuinely changes how you feel about yourself within minutes.

🤍The precision of the small movements builds what psychologists call self-efficacy. It’s that sense that your body can do hard things.

It looks like just a move, but I am here to show you it is so much more!

It’s & I have a question for you. Do you practice “Top of the Thigh” in your Barre work? It’s the move where you lift 1 leg up in the air & strengthen the front/top side of the thigh while lengthening the backside.

The section is very QUICK (you only really need to do it 1.5 minutes to see results), but it’s also so very SLOW at the same time. Your upper body never changes. Your core remains stable, chest open, shoulders down & arm with a slight bend remans lifted out to the side.

Something changes deep inside YOU when you practice this move on the regular. You begin to hold your head higher, you walk through the world w/ a new found confidence that only truly happens when your mind & body connect, finally seeing yourself as one whole unit.

If you look closely at these photos you can visually see a difference. It’s subtle, but it’s deep. It’s something that is hard to put into words. When I first found this work I didn’t lose weight (it wasn’t about that), but I miraculously did drop two sizes in my clothes. It was a shift in mass, but also in awareness as well.

What is YOUR soul telling you?

tLm is starting a new chapter that includes not only your Shape & your Strength as it always has before, but your Soul too.

So crazy. Before even looking through photo options to post for today, I had this strong feeling this was the exact day we first spent Mother’s Day (the American one 😉) in England with Esther (May 10th, 2015).

My mom was there too, which made it extra special because we were all able to celebrate the evening together. Being a mom, especially to two boys, was something Esther and I always deeply connected over.

There were so many synchronicities when I was first discovering this work. I finished Esther’s book, My Improper Mother & Me, on November 4, 2014… the exact date her mother, Lotte Berk had passed in 2003.

I still remember reading that date on the last page, immediately looking at my phone to make sure it really was November 4th that day… I closed THAT book as fast as the kid in The NeverEnding Story &!this feeling of disbelief came over my entire body.

Some moments in life feel a little too aligned to ignore. I learned early on that there are no coincidences, we are all here to learn valuable lessons from one another, and when your intuition is telling you something… YOU better LISTEN to it.

It is that line of thinking that allowed me to get on that ✈️ all those years ago, to learn a technique that would forever change my life, & meet a woman I would never forget!

Feel so grateful to be my Mom’s daughter & that we both were able to learn so much from the one & only, the legendary !

Today, May 7th is a day I will always remember. It is the day I 1st became certified to become a teacher in the ORIGINAL class taught to me by & created by her mother .

I was a certified Pilates instructor at the time who had fallen in love with & was teaching Barre + Pilates classes here in the USA.

I had read a Memoir that Esther had written called “My Improper Mother & Me” and the book inspired me to reach out to her to find out more about the workout her mother had created so many years ago.

I had no idea what I was about to uncover on this trip to England all those years ago. The ORIGINAL work was so different to what I had been taught to teach previously & had so many complimentary elements to the Pilates work I was already teaching & I knew immediately I had to share it with others.

Here in these photos I am receiving my OG Lotte Berk Technique certificate, standing with other women who had been practicing the technique for years & I even filmed a full OG class taught by the now legend Esther Fairfax herself.

It was a magical time, (as I would later learn) this technique would change my life & how I thought about movement in general for the foreseeable future.

The exercises changed my physique like nothing else I had ever tried before. The strength I gained was not just about how it made you look & feel. It was so much deeper than that. I could do any workout I tried now with a new ease I had never felt before. The feeling we all received when practicing it together bonded us all in a way none of us will forget.

It wasn’t just a workout Lotte Berk created it was a Work of Art. It was also something that I have always felt the whole world (or at least anyone who valued movement) should have access too if they wanted to build core strength like they have never felt before.

As I write this I am uploading the 1st 1/2 of this fabulous workout Esther 1st showed me to theLONDONmethod substack,It’s time you all have access to this work once & for all!

I feel like it’s time to bring back but in a brand new way.

Each month I have committed to deepening my relationship with the elements of life that go beyond the physical self.

In my journey I have found all aspects of us to be intertwined & connected to one another. The physical, the emotional, the mental, & the spiritual.
