Today, Ohio State Representative Mark Johnson stopped by Hocking Hills Adventures to present us with a commendation from the Ohio House of Representatives recognizing our 50th Anniversary.

While my name may be in the photo accepting this recognition, this award belongs to my dad, Lew Barbini. He put the work in when no one cared. He started a tourism business in the Hocking Hills when the main economic driver was manufacturing! Long before the Hocking Hills became what it is today.

Fifty years ago, he started a small family business on the Hocking River with a vision of sharing the outdoors with others. Through hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance, he built something that has stood the test of time.

And the greatest testament to this is

𝐖𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.

𝑭𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓, 𝒘𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓.We're still helping families create memories. We're still welcoming visitors to experience the beauty of Hocking Hills.

Many businesses come and go, but because of the foundation Lew built, Hocking Hills Adventures is still going strong after half a century.

Furniture was delivered to the second yurt, the Songbird, today! It should be ready to be rented in just a couple days!

Nestled back in the woods, not only does this yurt boast peaceful melodies provided by nature, but we have also provided bird feeders for your viewing pleasure and a book to help you identify the birds you see/hear! We can’t wait to get this open for our first guests!

The Hocking River has officially crested and water levels are dropping! We expect conditions to move into ideal river levels later today for a great day on the water.

The river is still running a little higher and faster than normal this morning, but conditions are improving by the hour.

🌧️ Unfortunately, the river has risen too high overnight and we will be CLOSED today for all river trips. Safety always comes first, and current water levels are running too high for us to operate safely.

Bummer… especially heading into summer weather 😞

The good news is the river usually drops quickly once the rain moves out, and we’re hoping to be back on the water soon! We’ll continue posting updates as conditions change.
