We wanted to post to update you on a couple of things. One major change is that we are holding only one fishing tournament this year. I'll make another post to provide the details.
As you know, we have usually done multiple tournaments earlier in the year. This has been good for everyone as we are all chomping at the bit to get out there on the water. As time has pressed on, we have noticed that fishing options have increased and that there are now more players in the tournament fishing market and you have more fishing opportunities. We may go back to the early spring, however, we would like your input.
As of now, we are planning to alter the way we handle our tournaments. Instead of offering multiple tournaments, we plan to simply offer one regular open annually. We have noticed that participation has seemed to decrease over the last several years. We'd hate to go by the wayside, but, with so many options for fishing, we are concerned that Rocky Mountain Bass may not be relevant. We hope we are wrong. We've been committed to providing truly open tournaments (no membership etc.), which is something both Kent and I wanted to see as tournament anglers.
So, the major change is that we will now offer only one tournament this year and likely a single tournament each year. This seems to be more in line with what we hope to become. More similar to a regular, annual event like the Memorial Open, the FG Derbies, the IBM Open, etc. At the same time, Kent and I plan to do some research and development by fishing a couple of other styles of major tournaments this year to see what tournament anglers are looking for in a tournament.
This means that as RMB, we need to fish a larger body of water to accommodate the possibility of more participants. We also plan to have a single entry fee but offer several cash options. Our goal is to make Rocky Mountain Bass relevant into the future. We plan to send out a survey, but we welcome your comments.
We very much appreciate our dedicated anglers who have allowed us to continue to this point. We are hoping to continue to support our core anglers and broaden our appeal to new participants in order to make a better tournament for everyone. If you made it this far in the post, thank you very much for your interest and attention! We look forward to a great tournament this year!
