Last but certainly not least for our company member spotlights: the one and only Tessa! She is this year’s Artistic Director of Valley Dance Ensemble and VDE’s School for Modern Dance. Tessa choreographed an Autumn piece for VDE’s SEASONS, and she will be dancing in 6 of the show’s pieces!

She also is a rockstar who teaches ALL of our 5 Wednesday classes! That includes: Creative Aging for adults, a Preschool class, our Parent & Tot class, Modern Dance for 6th-7th Graders, and our Limitless Class for dancers with disabilities. The Limitless class and 6th-7th class are both performing next Friday in the Full Belly Bowl as “The Gift” and “Shattered”. You don’t want to miss it!

Tessa has been dancing, teaching, choreographing, and directing for VDE off and on since 2005 and is passionate about its mission. Tessa has been privileged to work with many choreographers including Lehua Estrada, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, and Nick Cendese. She also taught and choreographed for Cache Civic Ballet, Ballet Aligned and Utah Festival Academy, as well as many groups and soloists around the state. If she’s not in the studio, you may find her homeschooling her kids, planning her next adventure or on a trail somewhere. Here at VDE, we owe so much of our success to Tessa!

Today we’re featuring Emily, the VDE Show Director of 2026 SEASONS! This is her 2nd year on the adult company, and she also became a teacher for the VDE School of Modern Dance this year. She will be dancing in 8 of the pieces in SEASONS on April 25th.

“Sometimes it's the very people who no one imagines anything of who do the things no one can imagine.” -Imitation Game

Emily gained her passion for dance while at Starrsteppers in Logan, danced with USU Dance Company, and is now exploring modern dance with Valley Dance Ensemble. She loves the outdoors, her friends & family, and anything magical. Emily is directing our adult spring show SEASONS, and choreographed a couple of the pieces in the program. She also teaches our Creative Dance Class for 1st-2nd Graders, as well as our Modern Dance Class for 7th-9th Graders; both of which will be in the School’s spring show The Full Belly Bowl as the mice and cats. Emily is our social media manager, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments on our socials! She is always happy to help.

SEASONS ❄️🌷☀️🍂 Presented by Valley Dance Ensemble’s Adult Company. We are so excited to share this show with you!
🗓️ Saturday, April 25th
🕗 7:00pm
📍 Ellen Eccles Theatre • Logan, UT
🎫 Link in Bio for Tickets!

SEASONS is a modern dance concert that explores the cyclical nature of growth, change, and renewal - both in nature and in our human experience.
Each piece embodies a unique experience of this ongoing cycle: whether it’s the stillness of winter, the bloom of spring, the vibrancy of summer, or the transformation of autumn. Together, these works will form a cohesive journey through time, emotion, and experience.
Through movement, we’ll explore themes of awakening, abundance, release, and reflection - showing that every stage of life holds purpose and beauty. This concert will weave together each choreographer’s interpretation into a cohesive story of change, resilience, and balance.

Next up for our company member spotlight: ParkerRae! ParkerRae basically has VDE in her blood at this point, since she’s been here almost her entire life. This year she choreographed two pieces for SEASONS and will be dancing in 7 of the pieces next Saturday. ParkerRae has also been teaching the Adult Modern Dance Class since January. We are so lucky to have her on the company!

ParkerRae started dancing with VDE-Y at age 1 and proceeded to dance in their junior company. This season is ParkerRae’s fifth year as a company member and sixth as a teacher at the School for Modern Dance. Valley Dance ensemble has been a creative home to ParkerRae going on 21 years now. Growing up in Logan, ParkerRae performed with several community theatre companies and Cache Valley Civic Ballet. ParkerRae now works as a nanny and a wellness coordinator for teenagers with trauma based mental illnesses in an equine therapy academy. Outside of dance she enjoys playing instruments, writing music and poetry, yoga, golfing and being outside.

Today we are featuring this year’s Education Director, Tiffany! She has choreographed an amazing piece for SEASONS and will be dancing in a whopping 8 pieces in the show. In addition to being Education Director, she teaches our K-1st Grade Creative Dance class which will perform at our Kindergarten Spring show. Tiffany also teaches the Creative Dance Class for 2nd-3rd Graders, who will be performing in our Full Belly Bowl show as the coins of gold. Support her and her students next weekend at both our shows!

Tiffany started Jazz & Ballet at the age of 11. In college she danced with BYU’s Dancensemble and The Dancer’s Company where she had the opportunity to perform and teach workshops across the US, Philippines, Korea, and India. As a finalist in the American College Dance Festival, Tiffany also had the opportunity to perform in the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. She worked as a teacher at Chows Gymnastics in Iowa, Uvalde Classical Dance, and directed Luling Dance arts in Texas. Tiffany has been with VDE for about 4 years. She is honored to be a part of Valley Dance Ensemble and be a part of Logan’s arts community.

Today our very own Katie is in the spotlight! Katie is this year’s Executive Director and we would be so lost without her. She has choreographed a piece for SEASONS and will be dancing in 6 pieces next Saturday. Katie teaches our Junior Company and Creative Dance Class for 4th-5th Graders, both of which will be performing in next Friday’s Full Belly Bowl show as the opening number and “multiplying”.

“Before a child talks, they sing. Before they write, they draw. As soon as they stand, they dance. Art is fundamental to human expression.” -Phylicia Rashad

Katie started dancing when she was 4 in a ballet and tap studio. She had progressed into her first year of pointe shoes when the only ballet teacher in her hometown moved, so shedid the next best thing and became a cheerleader. She then spent the next three years of high school on the dance team, where they took 1st place at State for their 8th, 9th, and 10th consecutive years! In college Katie majored in English Education and minored in Dance Education. She made the cheerleading team her first semester, the dance team her second semester, and performed with the Collegiate Contemporary Dance Company each semester after. That is where Katie was introduced to the art form of Modern Dance. In 2012 Katie moved to Logan, and in 2014 she found her way to Valley Dance Ensemble. In-between having her three children, she performed, taught, choreographed, and directed with VDE. Her second passion to dance is architecture and interior design.

From Katie: “I have always loved dance. I would feel incomplete without it in my life. For that reason, I am so grateful for Valley Dance Ensemble. It is an honor to serve as Executive Director and keep this amazing organization going!”

When the sun stays up late in the summertime, we lean into it as well. Summer is radiant, and we are lucky to experience the fullness of light and life that stretches across long, bright days and warm, glowing nights. This piece is inspired by golden sunlight spilling over open fields, laughter shared in community, and the quiet magic of evenings spent stargazing beneath a sky full of stars. It celebrates friendship, abundance, and playfulness, reflecting both the vibrant energy of daytime and the gentle stillness of night. The height of summer reminds us to stay in the moment and embrace the joy, connection, and fleeting beauty of life while we can.

Today our own Alyssa is in the spotlight! ✨Alyssa is the Assistant Show Director for our School for Modern Dance Spring Show, The Full Belly Bowl. This year she’s been teaching our Creative Dance Class for 3rd-4th Graders, and our Modern Dance Classes for 5th-6th Graders and 8th-12 Graders. These classes will all be dancing in The Full Belly Bowl Performance on the 24th as the foxes, spiders, and rules. She has been with us for several years as a company dancer and a teacher! We appreciate her bright positivity and amazing knowledge of dance! Alyssa will be dancing in 6 of the pieces in our Adult Company show SEASONS on the 25th, one of which is the finale piece that she choreographed.

“Never be so kind that you forget to be clever. Never be so clever that you forget to be kind.” -Taylor Swift

Alyssa has been addicted to dance since she took her first ballet class at age six. Most of Alyssa’s training is in ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. She loves all genres of dance (besides hip hop 😂) As a teenager Alyssa loved competing in various dance competitions and conventions. She was even accepted to Otterbein university in Ohio on a partial dance scholarship for ballet. Alyssa has taught dance for over fifteen years and this is her third year with VDE. Aside from dance she also teaches several group fitness formats and absolutely loves it!
