🇺🇸 BIG NEWS FOR LOGAN AIR FORCE JROTC 🇺🇸

The Logan High School Air Force JROTC unit, OH-20221, has officially been awarded the Distinguished Unit Award with Merit by Headquarters Air Force JROTC for the 2025-2026 academic year.

This marks the first Headquarters-level award in the history of OH-20221 and is an incredible accomplishment for a program that is only five years old.

According to Headquarters Air Force JROTC, these awards recognize the “personal growth and accomplishments of the cadets, contributions of the instructors as mentors, and the support of the school and local community.”

Out of 812 Air Force and Space Force JROTC units worldwide, only approximately 146 units earned the Distinguished Unit Award with Merit this year — placing OH-20221 among the top 18% of JROTC programs internationally.

This achievement reflects the hard work, professionalism, leadership, and dedication of our cadets both inside and outside the classroom. From community service and leadership development to school involvement and academic excellence, our cadets continue to represent Logan with pride.

As part of this recognition, OH-20221 will receive an official Distinguished Unit Award with Merit streamer to be displayed on the unit guidon, and cadets enrolled in the program during the award year will earn the Distinguished Unit Award with Merit ribbon to wear on their ribbon racks.

An additional benefit of earning this distinction is that the unit is now authorized to nominate up to three qualified senior cadets each year to each of the United States service academies, including the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. These nominations create additional opportunities for Logan cadets interested in pursuing military leadership and service.

We would like to thank the Logan-Hocking School District, Logan High School administration, families, community partners, and veterans whose support has helped make this accomplishment possible.

We are proud of every cadet who helped build OH-20221 into a nationally recognized program in just five short years.

Night before the event. The cadets spent the day strategizing, practicing, and team building! Thank you so much to CoreyCo Construction & Renovation for providing all of the team meals for both teams on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We can not thank community support like this enough. The cadets are ready to go, excited, and well fed to put in the hard work tomorrow.

The Logan Raiders are heading to the US Army Fort Knox National Raider Challenge. There will be 30 cadets heading to compete! We will compete all day on Saturday. Stay tuned to our page if you want to see updates. Shout out to North Fitness Center who definitely puts COMMUNITY into Community Fitness! Thank you to Maya North who helped train our Raider Teams for the last four months to get ready for the US Army Fort Knox Raider Team Challenge. Units from all service branches are going to compete from
April 16th to the 19th, and Logan's own AFJROTC will be there to represent Southeastern Ohio!

They helped us train hard, but also learn the value of Work Hard, Play Hard. This not only helped them create healthy bodies and healthy minds, it allowed them to form strong team bonds that are required for an event like this. And we had fun doing it.

If you have an organization, business, friend group, neighbors, etc, do something different and sign them all up to do fitness classes together. I am telling you, not only will they grow together, but their bonds will become stronger. Give them a call and set something up to take your team to the next level.
