This weekend, Eden and Brynn Butler swam in the Big Blue Adventure Open Water Swim Series in Lake Tahoe and they did great! Eden came in first overall in the 1/2 mile swim and Brynn came in fourth in the 1/2 mile swim for the 10-19 age group. Great job ladies! We are so proud of you! Go Gold!!

Congratulations to Nolan Butler for coming in first out of 150 open water swimmers at the 16th Annual Golden Gate Sharkfest Swim!!! He swam 1.2 miles, the length of the Golden Gate Bridge, in the San Francisco Bay, and scored the victory and a personal best time of 22 minutes! Great job Nolan! We are so proud of you!

As always, back to school means back in the pool for California Gold as we hosted Oakdale's annual Back to School Meet. What a fun day we had today! Lots of fast swims, best times, and bright smiles. It was a great start to a new short course season and a new school year for our swimmers and their families. We know you are all going to have a great year in the pool and in the classroom!!

Thank you to all the parents and volunteers for their help today, and for all the support and encouragement you all always give the team. A HUGE thank you to Nothing Bundt Cake for their generous donation for our raffle fundraiser, and congrats to the lucky winner, Coach Cindy!!

Hot Dog Meet is right around corner! More awesome times to come!

The open water came calling again for Nolan Butler this weekend, as he competed at the 33rd annual Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim. The swim emulates the daring prison break made by the Anglin Brothers and Frank Lee Morris in 1962, and runs 1.5 miles in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay. Nolan came in 16th out of 461 swimmers of all ages. Great job Nolan!!!

What an amazing experience these past few days at Junior Nationals in Irvine! Rebecca held her own among the nation's best, and we couldn't be more proud of her! In addition to that, she has been chosen to be a part of the Sierra Nevada LSC Senior Elite Camp at the USA Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs!! The top 28 athletes (ages 13-18) from our LSC were chosen, and Rebecca earned the honor to participate!! She will represent California Gold well. Congratulations, Rebecca! Your hard work and dedication has definitely paid off!!

Congratulations to Rebecca Welch for qualifying for and competing in this past week's Futures Championships in Natomas! This competition brought the fastest swimmers from the West Coast, including many collegiate swimmers home for summer. This was swimming at the elite level, and we are so proud of Rebecca for being a part of it! Tomorrow she leaves for Irvine to compete at the next level, Junior Nationals. Good Luck Rebecca!!
