That's a wrap on our first post-pandemic in-person seminar, and we're all smiles!

We can't begin to thank everyone enough for helping make the EDC Edged Weapon Seminar a big success this past weekend — from the self-defense experts at the Academy of Combative Defense & Fitness who invited us to teach in their HQ ... to our diverse students who showed up with an open mind and a positive attitude.

While there was a huge range in skill levels, by the end of the last day, everyone could fight off an attacker with their empty-hand weapons before drawing their training blade in less than three seconds.

It was impressive work put in by everyone who showed up, and we look forward to offering more cutting-edge combatives at a gym, dojo, or studio near you soon.

In an ideal world, you'd draw your blade long before an armed bad guy comes charging at you.

But statistics, smartphone videos, and real-life surveillance footage tells us that you're not always in control of when and where you can draw your knife.

In this our co-founder Conrad Bui (a g**o in Kali, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and an instructor in 6 other systems) shows how to draw your pocketknife while on your back and then get off the ground.

The priority is to keep your tool between you and your opponent and to get back to your feet as quickly as possible.

This was a part of our seminar's section on failure drills, which included partial openings and dropped knives.

If you're not training for failure in your knife classes, you're training to fail on the streets.
