5 Player Tips That Coaches/Scouts look for in youth soccer; what it takes to be a better player and stand out:

1. Body Language - Especially after losing the ball, do they hide or do they demand it again? The reaction can say everything!

2. First Touch Under Pressure - Watching the first touch when a defender is breathing down your child's neck. Can they bring a ball down to their feet, create balance, speed or offer a quick pass with one touch when it matters most?

3. Off-The-Ball Movement - 90% of a game is played without the ball. Are they finding space, showing for passes and making runs nobody else is making?

4. How They Treat Teammates - Who does your child celebrate with or how do they react when a teammate makes a mistake? Are they shouting instructions, sulking or encouraging? Character gets your child recognized just as much as talent does.

5. Consistency - Does your child show up the same for a sunny game as a rainy one, or carry the same passion and energy being up 3-0 in a game versus being down 3-0? Delivery over the season provides work ethic and drive.

With the summer outdoor soccer season coming to a close, our Lockport Soccer Club has seen growing success this year with 5 different teams winning BWNYJSL division championships. This is up from 3 in 2025.

This shows the hard work, dedication, passion, sacrafice and willingness to grow from everyone to our players, coaches, board members and families and supporters of anyone in the club!!

We would like to take a moment to wish the best of luck to all of our players who will be playing for school teams this Fall, or continuing to practice in preparations for upcoming indoor leagues.

⚽️🏆 Congratulations to Coach Huczel and the U-17 boys who clinched the B division championship by defeating Amherst tonight by a score of 3-1. They finished the season with 7 wins, zero losses and 3 ties! Evin Richley of Lockport High School scored 2 goals, while Michael Fuller of Royalton-Hartland scored what would be the game-winning goal in the 81st minute that broke the tie.

🏆⚽️ Congratulations to our Lockport 14U girls team who completed their summer season tonight with a hard fought 2-1 victory over a solid Amherst squad. This win makes them the Division 1 UNDEFEATED Champions of the league!!! ⚡️🔵🟡
