The Chicago Cougars were established in 2015 and play in the USPHL Premier Midwest East division. The Cougars are based out of the Fifth Third Arena also home to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Cougars have won three straight division championships (2017-19) and have also been to 4 straight National Championships (2017-2020). Players come from all over the country. Some players even come international
ly from other countries. The Cougars have been fortunate to have players from all levels join the pride. The Cougars have had 3 Major Junior players; 2 from the OHL and 1 from the WHL. The Cougars have also had 10 plus players come from Tier II levels such as the NAHL and NCDC. A majority of the Cougars players come from AAA, AA, and High School programs around the world. Current Head Coach/GM Josh Dallmann who most recently was an Assistant Coach for the Springfield Jr. Blues and Kenai River Brown Bears in the NAHL. Coach Josh has been coaching for 7 years now and has developed many great connections along the way. The Chicago Cougars take their name from the former members of the now defunct WHA who competed from 1970-1974 in the International Arena at 4220 S. The current Chicago Cougars want to cherish the history of Chicago hockey by keeping the WHA name, logo, and home jersey while also distinguishing themselves as a newer brand of junior hockey and not professional hockey like the WHA team and current Chicago resident Blackhawks and Wolves.
