I haven’t given much context to the 2023 Niagara Phillies year to date, so this is a quick summary of the teams 2023 accomplishments. Basically it was a year of semifinal success and failure. The open age division Phillies, 35 Phillies, 45 Phillies all successfully reached the playoffs but all lost in the semis. IN addition, the tournament team which was a mix of all age group Phillie teams as well as a couple of former Phillies, went 3-1 in the Labor Day open division Rochester tournament and also lost in the semis. Both a great year for all of the Niagara Phillies teams and also a disappointing year for not advancing to the championship rounds. Hopefully, 2024 will be a year for one or more championships!

The local adult baseball league is coordinating a workout for anyone 50 years of age or older at outwater park in Lockport at 1030am who may be interested in a new 50+ division being created in 2024.

Does baseball get any better than this. In Egypt, the cradle of civilization, enjoying my camel ride amongst the pyramids getting ready for games this week against 2 collegiate teams and twice against the Egyptian National team!

Expansion Niagara Phillies win mini-preseason tourney in Rochester beating Storm 9-1 and Rockies 10-6. Pitching was led by Dakota LLoyd, Chris Cardona, PJ Wozniak who combined for 9 innings over the 2 game yielding only 3 runs with 15 strikeouts. Standout hitting performances from 35+ Phillies Denys Grass with 4 hits including 2 doubles. Michael Rosenhagen and Eduardo Arroyo also contributed doubles from the 35 squad. Grass, Nick Demonte, Cardona, Lloyd, Sam Quagliano, Jake mandel, Tony Reyes, jake Fitzpatrick all had multiple hits over the 2 games. SS tony Reyes made the play of the game with a diving grab to his right with a strong throw to 1st to get the runner.
