What a fantastic way to start the summer last night. We had a large number of runners show up. All JH and HS students are welcome to join us again this evening at 6:50 in front of Navarro Elementary school. Adults who want to join us are invited to come ride a bike with these wonderful kids.

We will start our summer running on Monday June 1st. We will meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. A question I’m often asked is “when does cross country start?” Cross Country starts when track season ends, and this weekend is the end of the UIL 2026 State track and field season. Therefore; in about 90 days or around August 14th, we will have our first cross country meet, and then about 90 days after that the State Cross Country meet will be held. The amount of success we have this fall is dependent on what is done this summer.

Congratulations to Lockhart Junior Ethan Herrera on advancing to the Regional Track and Field Meet in the 1600 meter run which will be held in two weeks. Ethan ran a brilliant race despite 88 degrees and wind. Way to go Ethan.

Congratulations to our Lockhart Varsity Boys Track and Field team on another outstanding performance at the Vista Ridge Relays this past Thursday. The Lions finished second overall out of ten really solid teams competing. After five regular season meets we have a combined record of 35-3. Our next meet will be the District 25-5A Championship meet on April 8th and 9th held at Liberty Hill HS. 💪🏆🦁 👍’s up!

I love our Lockhart Track and Field “Big Men.” The beauty of track is in the variety of athletes who compete. Track and Field athletes come in all shapes and sizes. Here is a picture of some of our LHS Shot Put and Discus throwers. These guys are awesome, and so are the coaches who mentor them. ❤️💪🏆 👍’s up!

We are back from spring break, and preparing for the home stretch of the 2025-2026 school year. We have our final regular season meet this Thursday at Leander Vista Ridge, and then travel to Liberty Hill HS for District 25-5A Track and Field meet on April 8th and 9th.
