Awesome hunt yesterday morning with one of my favorite families. The low fog and light drizzle had the birds coming right into the decoys. 4 Pintail drakes! This is the first hunt that the young boys killed most of the birds.

Wyatt shot a great 12 point at the house a couple weeks ago. Having to go to school afterwards was a real buzzkill for him! We switched our protein plan up this year. Previously we had been using Lyssey and Eckel protein in gravity feeders. This year we decided to use a 50/50 mix of “Blast” protein pellets and corn in all the broadcast feeders hoping to feed more deer. The results have really surprised me. We have taken some really nice deer off our low fence ranch.

Ms. Jamie took down the bruiser 12 pointer from the Fire Blind. He only cruised by the camera a few times all season. The day before she shot him we caught him on camera and none of his antlers were broken. He walked in with a doe that he must’ve fought for since he broke off his G6 and main beam on his right side.

Wrapped up the waterfowl season this weekend with good friends.
I would say this has been one of my favorite seasons.
Great moments hunting with 3 young dogs (Ringo/Kaiser/Cane). Lots of great shots and several “how’d we screw that up” moments as well.
I watched beautiful sunrises in Kansas, Arkansas, and Texas...heard and told lots of “Dad” jokes, but many sincere moments of life-talk as well.
Overall, I was able to take 10 first time duck hunters to the blind with me and witnessed the simultaneous joy of a father and child after the child’s first successful downed bird. Encountered too many emergency bathroom experiences and Wyatt shot on a couple hunts this year.
I’m already looking forward to next season!
