THE COURSE
Our goal is to have the course marked and the start/finish areas set up by 2pm the Saturday (the day before) each race. We encourage teams to wait until 2pm to pre-ride the course if possible.
We will have new course marking signs. Riders will now see arrows, caution, and wrong way signs. Course tape will be used when necessary. This may result in "less" marking, but should actually help any confusion the pink flags could create.
PLATES
Riders will have 1 plate for the entire season. Coaches should collect plates at the end of each race. Each plate has a color depending on category (Orange: Varsity, Pink: J/V, Blue: Advanced MS, Yellow: Novice, Purple: Middle School, Green: Upper Elementary, Red: Lower Elementary). Riders wishing to upgrade can check-in at the registration tent - we have stickers to replace their color coding. If a plate is lost or damaged, replacement plates are $10.
Coaches will pick up plates for their entire team (at race 1). Please designate 1 coach to pick up the plates from registration starting at 8:30am.
Coaches will also receive plates with their information. These can be used if they course marshal and at other team activities. There is a red cross on plates if the coach is first aid/CPR certified. If coaches receive their certification after 8/26 they can pick up a red cross sticker at the registration tent during the races. Certifications must be uploaded in SI Play.
RACE DAY
There is a designated area for teams to set up tents and racks. Setup begins at 7:30am and for safety purposes, no vehicles are allowed in the team area (even for drop-offs) 8:30am. Additionally, no vehicles will be allowed to park in the team area. I'm attaching a map with the proposed infield setup, which is subject to change.
We will have a coaches meeting at 9:15am at the MiSCA trailer. Make sure to listen for the announcements - each team is required to send 1 representative to the meeting - absent teams will have additional cleaning duties. We will cover race specifics, any changes to the day, and more. Please share info we discuss with your riders.
Riders will stage 15 mins prior to race start. There will be no mass rider meeting; however, lap counts and some rules will be covered during a new staging process.
Laps will now go through the finish chute. Riders will still need to count their own laps to ensure they have completed the race, but will no longer need to decide to make the laps/finish turn.
There will be a single awards ceremony, following the completing of the elementary races. Please encourage your riders and families to stick around and celebrate the hard work and success of all the riders.
VOLUNTEERS:
To accomplish all the "cool new stuff" we want to do, increase safety, and have the course set up the day before, we need more volunteers!
Setting up on Saturday means we need volunteers to help on Saturday!
Please reach out to your coaches/parents and ask them to each sign up to help at a single race.
They can register to volunteer/coach in SI Play by selecting their name, a single race, then a volunteer role.
We will not start races without enough course marshals (a perfect job for coaches)
