Founded in 2015, the LHS Dance Team strives to promote dance in the Livingston community. While the team primarily focuses on hip-hop, it aspires to introduce other genres of dance such as ballet and jazz to fellow members and viewers.

Hello everyone! All of us from the LHS Dance Team hope that your summer is going well! With that being said, a new school year is beginning next month, so we would like to announce next year's executive board for the team! The board members for the 2017-2018 school year will be as follows:

Co-Presidents: Rhianna Bhatia, Reigne Villanueva
Co-Vice Presidents: Carly Weiss, Sydney Muench
Secretary: Caitlin Huang
Treasurer: Elizabeth Chow

In honor of its graduated senior members, the LHS Dance Team organized a white and denim photoshoot at Hillside Elementary School last week. Each day we will post a picture of one senior member to recognize their accomplishments as a dance team member. Today, we honor Dancer Sarah Gordin!

Name: Sarah Gordin
Role: Dancer
Participated dance(s): French Culture Night, Multicultural Night (Indian + Fan)

As a dancing member of the team, Sarah brought her talents and enthusiasm to rehearsals. A talented ballet dancer, she participated in this year's ballet piece at French Culture Night and took on the challenge of learning two new styles for Multicultural Night. This coming fall, Sarah will be attending Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA with a Theatre major and Music minor. Her ultimate dream is to become a professional performer and to work in a theatre therapy program for special needs children as a Theatre Educator. Sarah plans on taking lots of dance classes throughout her college career—in fact, she's already signed up for Ballet during her first semester! We thank Sarah for her participation on the team and wish her the best of luck in the future!

Name: Samantha Sheng

As an active dancing member of the dance team, Sam was always present at necessary rehearsals and learned choreography with ease. Although she was also a member of the Cheerleading Squad for most of the school year, Sam still designated a significant portion of her time to dancing. This fall, Sam will be studying at The New School's Parsons School of Design with a major in Strategic Design Management for Business. By studying at Parsons, she hopes to be able to travel and work in the fashion industry more, possibly pursuing a career as a stylist for Korean entertainment agencies. Sam also wishes to continue dancing by taking classes at a nearby dance studio. We thank Sam for her dedication to the team and wish her the best of luck with her future endeavors!

As an active dancing member of team, Emma consistently showed up to practices prepared and on time. Through joining the dance team, Emma rediscovered her roots in dance from her younger years, and always picked up new choreography with ease. In the fall, Emma will be attending the University of Delaware in Newark, DE with an undeclared major. She hopes to continue her dance career while studying in college. We thank Emma for her dedication as a team member and wish her the best of luck in the future!

Name: Grace Lin
Role: Officer, Videographer
Participated dance(s): 10/29 Football Game, Fall Pep Rally, 10/7 Football Game

As Officer of the dance team, Grace designed the team's new logo and acted as a significant contributor to bake sales. She also was one of the main Videographers for the team when she was not performing. This fall, Grace will be attending the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA with an Entertainment Arts major and Social Innovation minor. She has not decided on a specific career path as of yet, but a few possibilities include Storyboard Artist, Visual Development Artist, and Art Director. Grace also plans on taking college courses related to Photography and Videography to apply the skills in her professional and personal lives. As for dance, since she will be living in California, Grace believes she will have various opportunities to improve her dance skills by attending weekly classes and workshops. We thank Grace for her work on the dance team and wish the best for her in the future!

Name: Janis Li

As an Officer of the dance team, Janis provided significant feedback to the team regarding performances, fundraising, and other team-related things. She was also a very active dancer of the team, participating in almost all of the team's performances. Janis will be attending Brandeis University in Waltham, MA this coming fall with an intended double major in Biology and Neuroscience. She also plans to attend medical school after completing her undergraduate studies, and sees being a Physician as a possible future career path. As for dance, Janis hopes to join Brandeis's dance company and remain active throughout her college career. We thank Janis for her active participation in the team and wish her the best of luck in the future!

Name: Eric Tang
Role: Out-of-District Officer, Video Editor
Participated dance(s): Chinese Culture Day, 10/29 Football Game

Despite transferring to a new high school his senior year, Eric remained active in the dance team by offering his help and feedback to the other Officers throughout the year. The bulk of his work as an Out-of-District Officer was social media-related, including editing all of the team's performance videos, trailers, and audio files. He also ran the LHS Dance Team page and YouTube channel, and suggested the idea of the photoshoot. This fall, Eric will be studying at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA with a major in Business Administration. Eric is planning on joining UW's Hip Hop Student Association to further develop his dancing skills. He is also in the works of organizing a K-Pop dance cover group at the university as well. We thank Eric for his continued efforts for the team and we hope he finds success in the future!

Name: Divya Patel
Role: Fundraising Head, Dancer
Participated dance(s): Multicultural Night (Indian Classical)

As the Head Officer of Fundraising for the dance team, Divya completed and submitted paperwork related to bake sales to the school administration. She also choreographed the Indian Classical number in the Multicultural Night performance. After graduating from high school last week, Divya will be attending Rutgers University's College of Arts & Sciences in New Brunswick, NJ. She will be majoring in Biology on a Pre-Med track, hoping to eventually become a physician assistant or doctor. As for dance, Divya plans on joining one of Rutgers's various dance teams for Bollywood, Raas, or Bhangra. We thank Divya for her work on the team and we wish her luck with her future endeavors!

Name: Lisa Peng
Role: Treasurer, Dancer
Participated dance(s): Senior Pep Rally, Multicultural Night (Latin + Fan), Lip Sync Battle, Fall Pep Rally

As Treasurer of the dance team, Lisa had the responsibility of keeping track of the team's finances, including the profits from bake sales and the expenses for costumes. As an active dancer of the team, Lisa assisted in teaching and choreographing short sections of songs for performances. This fall, Lisa will be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with an intent to major in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science. She plans on continuing dancing during her time at MIT, and also has mentioned that she wants to plant succulents in her dormitory! We thank Lisa for her commitment to the team and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors!
