The West Essex Y provides opportunities and support for people of all ages in their pursuit of health and well-being in spirit, mind and body. No other organization is in the position of the Y to positively impact the health crisis facing our community. Our newly renovated 24,000-square-foot facility, consisting of a 25 yd pool, two basket
ball courts, a Wellness Center featuring over 40 cardio machines, Child Watch, Strength Training Center with free weights and Strive fitness machines, saunas, steam rooms and locker rooms with showers, is the local branch of the Metro YMCAs of the Oranges. Our programs, classes and facilities meet the unique needs of our members from infants to teens, young adults to seniors. We offer a wide variety of group exercise classes and programs (many included in membership), as well as senior workouts, arthritis swim classes and other specialized instruction classes. The Y has been a respected provider of programs for youth and teens for over 50 years, from youth sports and enrichment classes, to Teen Leaders, childcare and Before and After School programs. We also have two summer day camps, super summer Camp and Pioneer Trails, both of which are licensed by the state of New Jersey and accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA). Our programs emphasize the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Staff model and teach these values to help children make good decisions. Each of the core values is associated with a color: Caring is red, Honesty is blue, Respect is yellow and Responsibility is green.
