The Cow Snare nearly pulled it off… once I got to the bay I was looking for a way to get around behind her to push her out of the thicket but it wasn’t a sensible thing to do position wise. So I tried something I seen some guys from out west post before and it nearly worked out!

It doesn’t get much cooler than strolling around on a big stout bronc. It probably doesn’t get much worse if it doesn’t give in to the domesticated life either! I didn’t start this horse, but a friend got me to put 90 days on this big cool Strawberry roan. Not buying him is probably a big mistake on my part. Once I figured out what made him tick I had an absolute blast on him. Drop some pics/info of your broncs below!

I had a client send me a Dutch Warmblood equestrian horse from Florida a couple of years ago. He wasn’t appreciating his lavish lifestyle like he should have been, so he got a dose of Mountain Medicine.

In places like 19th-century Tennessee and the Upper Cumberland, a good trail horse was essentially an off-road vehicle, hunting partner, pack animal, and transportation all in one. That environment would have favored horses that were tough, intelligent, sure-footed, and sensible.

Desensitizing a horse is basically teaching it not to overreact to things that are scary, strange, or uncomfortable. The goal isn’t to make a horse fearless, it’s to teach it to think instead of panic.
