The Greyhound Club of Northern California The GCNC provides greyhound fanciers in Northern California a network of friends and a variety of club sponsored activities throughout the year.

Greyhounds have been used over the centuries to chase game, and in the 20th century in the sport of racing. in the past only well born persons were permitted by law to keep Greyhounds, in modern times the breed has become an increasingly popular pet, owing to it's swee

t temperament and charming personality. People are often surprised the first time they meet one of these dogs. They often expect a high-strung. nervous animal and are consistently amazed by how low key they really are. The breed is clean and quiet, without the high energy level found in other breeds. The greyhound's great speed make him ideal for lure coursing, open field hunting and straight and oval track running (as an amateur sport, not the commercial racing events often associated with the breed.) The greyhound also shines in the conformation ring with an elegant and dignified presence. He can be successfully trained for competition in obedience, agility and tracking. All of thee activities can be fun for the dog and owner and promote a strong bond between the two

NOTE TO ANYONE WHO WILL BE ENTERING OBEDIENCE OR RALLY at the GCNC Fall Specialty on October 17th;

This event closes on Wednesday, and it is with an independent show secretary SO ACTUALLY IT CLOSES ONLINE MONDAY. I suggest printing out the entry and mailing it directly to the show secretary. Make sure you mail it out Monday so it gets there by Wednesday. If you decide to do it online through MBF/ INFODOG online, they will charge you $15 additional to your entry fees!

Entry deadline for the GCNC Fall Specialty is almost here! Get your entries in via InfoDog or by standard snail-mail by Wednesday, September 30th, 12 noon!! The weather should be fabulous for this show in Pleasanton, California. There will be a potluck and a costume contest after regular classes, everyone is welcome.
