Rotary Club in the books for 2026 !

The Live Oak Rotary Club held their annual scramble yesterday at SCC, with some of the best weather of the year. The temperature was perfect, the winds were almost non-existent, the food was great, and the scores were fantastic.
Winning first place for low gross was the high school contingent of Ty Hurst, William Slaughter, and Ryan Donaldson with a super 57.
First low net was the team of Clifford Bean, Kyle Gamble, and CJ Bean with a score of 50.
Closest to the pin winner was William Slaughter.
All look forward to the 2027 event next April. Thank you to the sponsors and to all who participated.

BUCK ROBERTS CELEBRATES 89’th BIRTHDAY !!

Buck Roberts, a longtime SCC member, turns 89 on Saturday, but celebrated a day early with his golfing pals.
Buck plays golf every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning with his group of friends. Today Buck played with Sally Dull, Dewayne Williams, and Joe Flanagan. Jerry Upchurch and Don Branske also played but are not pictured.
Buck is 89 tomorrow, but you would never know it ! He still hits the ball well over 225 yards, still hits his irons pure( most of the time !), and still is a very good putter. He says he “never makes anything “, but that’s just not true! He makes plenty !!
We all wish Buck a very Happy Birthday, and hope he has many, many more to come in his future!!

UPCHURCH MAKES THIRD HOLE IN ONE ON NUMBER 5 !

Jerry Upchurch, longtime SCC member, got a day early birthday present today. He made his third hole in one on the same hole, #5, while playing with his Tuesday/Thursday Our Gang group. It was witnessed by his team, Don Branske, Mitch Mott, and Robert Dees.
Nice going Jerry, and Happy Birthday as well !!

Senior Carter Cannon commits to play college golf at Lake Sumter State College !

SHS Senior Carter Cannon made a huge decision today to take his talents in August to play golf for the Lakehawks of Lake Sumter State College. Carter has been playing golf for over 10 years, with a lot of it on display at Suwannee CC. Over the years he has worked on his game extremely hard, and it has paid off in a huge way ! We are so proud of his accomplishment, and wish him all the best in his next chapter in his golf career.
We will be following his years at Lake Sumter, and I will keep you posted on Facebook of all that is yet to come.

DYLAN STEVENS ACES # 5 !

Dylan Stevens got his first ever hole in one on hole #5 today, playing with his brother Tyler and his dad Rusty. Dylan hit a perfect 52 degree wedge to a front pin, on this cold and windy day. Dylan was the best “ Stevens “ player today in their round in some tough conditions.
Congrats Dylan on your feat !

THANKSGIVING HOURS AND MEMBERSHIP DRIVE !

Happy Thanksgiving everyone ! We will be OPEN all day tomorrow from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Come out and play some golf before your celebration or after. The weather looks great, a bit cooler, but very nice for some Thanksgiving day golf.
We are also doing a membership drive starting tomorrow untill the end of the year. If you join our club during this period, you will not have to pay an initiation fee, and, for the rest of the year you will get a free basket of range balls each day. When you join, not only are you a member of SCC, but you will only have to pay cart fees at Quail Heights CC in Lake City. Also, for a small fee, you will be able to fish White Lake. Please call the pro shop at 386-362-1147 for more information.

DONALDSON WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!

Senior Ryan Donaldson is now a District 2A State Champion, capping off four years of SHS golf with an amazing final round at Howie-In-The Hills in Lake County Florida. The University of Oklahoma signee, shot a final round 67 to go along with a first round 73 for a 140 two day total. Her back 9 consisted of 5 birdies, and 4 pars, with a final birdie in hole 18 to finish her high school career.
She was victorious by only a one shot margin, with her superb final round total.
She has played in the State event each year, and her goal was to try to get a win on this last one. Well Ryan, you reached this goal, and as we have said a few times in the last four years, the sky is your limit. We wish you all the best next year when you head off to Oklahoma and bring your talents to them. What a fantastic way to finish off your high school golfing career.
On the boys side of the event, the team had a great two days finishing in 11th place overall. Junior Dawson Wooley was low man for Suwannee finishing in 17th place with a 153. Senior Carter Cannon was next at 154, finishing a strong 22nd. Next was Junior Ty Hurst with a 167, followed by Senior William Slaughter at 170, and Senior Brett Bozeman with a 176. Dawson and Ty return next year, and SHS will reload with some very reliable players that have been working very hard.
Congratulations to State Champion Ryan, and to the boys team that competed for an amazing third year in row at this level.

Day one in the books at States !

Suwannee is in 8th place after first day, with Carter Cannon leading the way with a 74. Dawson Wooley is right behind with a 75. Rounding out the top 5 is Ty Hurst (83) Brett Bozeman (85) and William Slaughter (89).
Carter is 10th overall, Dawson is 11th.
Day 2 is today. Let’s go DOGS !

In the girls competition, Ryan Donaldson is only 3 shots out of 1st after firing a 73.

DONALDSON MAKES IT OFFICIAL… SIGNS WITH UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA!

Ryan Donaldson just made it official with a signing party at SCC inking with the University of Oklahoma today. She is the first SHS player to sign a full ride scholarship to play for a Division 1 college. She will begin her four years as a Boomer Sooner this coming August.
All of us at SCC and Live Oak wish her all the best, as she continues the next chapter of her career.

SUWANNEE HS BOYS TEAM HEADED TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR !

The very talented SHS boys golf team had to wait an extra day to find out if they would be going to compete in the State tournament in two weeks. Around 6:00 PM tonight, they got the news. They received an at large bid after they played in Regionals, and due to their stellar play there, and throughout the year, they got the bid. This will be 3 years in a row for this team, which in itself, is a remarkable achievement. They have scored better each time at the event, and hopefully that trend will continue when they head south in 2 weeks.
Team members include Carter Cannon, Dawson Wooley, Ty Hurst, Brett Bozeman, and William Slaughter. They will need to have four solid scores out of the five competing.
This team has proven they can handle the pressure, as they have shown over and over again the last 3 years that they are right where they should be. Competing for a State Championship in November after another superb season.
Let’s GO !!! Everyone at Suwannee CC, and in the community, wish you the best of luck at the Championship !!
