Thor Strength

Thor Strength I help adults and athletes get stronger through practical strongman and strength training - whether they want to build real-world strength or compete.

The idea of Thor Strength began in 2014. Over the years it has grown from being just a basement mobility workout to a beach conditioning class to a well-rounded program based on strength, core stability, mobility and general physical preparedness (GPP). Strength and core stability have become the main pillars used to guide members of our team to a more successful future. Mobility is the structural

integrity of the pillars, allowing us to move more freely and without limitations. GPP is our interior design, established to complement our strength movements, eliminate muscle imbalances and promote better mental and physical conditioning. What began as a personal training side-gig has transitioned into a professional coaching community of teammates who encourage others to join the family.

Knowing when to push a little more is very important. But knowing when to dial it back is equally important; if not MORE!

Submaximal weight just feeling off?

This could appear in any way. Today it was lack of leg drive, lockout instability and wrong positioning. All things to work on in the next session when the weight is lighter and the focus is on all these points.

Recovery day.

No hot yoga, but I went for a run. My body is beat from this past deadlift session.

I’ve been working on this route for about 6 weeks now. Not rushing to compete it. Just increasing my distance little by little. Now here we are! Super exciting!

3 weeks to go!

We are now increasing our fasting window. This is something I do in preparation for the water cut. It certainly does take some getting used to. But the lifting is the easy part, making weight has to be taken just as seriously. Eat well, hydrate enough, and sleep as much as I can to recover better!

Secondary log press day. This is a common way to add more volume throughout the week and strengthen your technique.

In this day we’re taking 70% of the previous session’s top set and adding 2️⃣ pauses. The weight is manageable and allows me to really dial in the technique and have obvious pauses.

Are you looking to improve a specific lift? Let me know and we can build a program just for you!

We can track progress a number of ways. Most people focus on how much heavier they can lift. In strength sports, this is crucial. However, it’s important to be able to compare how similar weights move over time. Yes, we can to get stronger. But we also want to make sure that our technique, speed and stability are also improving along the way!

Are you looking to improve your form and get stronger? DM me on what lift you’re working on!

Grab that pre and let’s get into singles on log!

Feeling confident despite my legs and low back being super sore.

Don’t stress too much about how you feel entering the gym. Get your body moving, get some good music on and focus on your technique. Often, you’ll start to work through that soreness and your technique will improve!

Front Squats have been quietly moving. And these are feeling a little too easy 😳 We might be hitting a PR during these last few weeks.

Don’t neglect the accessory movements! The stronger they get, the stronger you get. Isn’t that the goal?!?!

This last block is a simple structure…

3️⃣ x 1️⃣
Week 1 - RPE 7
Week 2 - RPE 8
Week 3 - RPE 9
Week 4 - no front squats
