lity to effectively communicate their faith and the message of Truth, Life, and Love to the nations. Educational Philosophy of Word Of Outreach Christian Academy (WOOCA)
WOOCA bases its understanding and educational focus on the Word of God. As a part of this focus, we utilize the Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary definition of "education.:
EDUCA’TION, n. [L. education.] The bringing up, as of a child, instruction; formation of manners. Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts and science, is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties. The guiding functional concept for education at WOOCA is ‘the three-legged stool’ concept, which consists of the home, the local church, and the school. As the education of a child begins at home, the parent or guardian is under divine mandate to ensure that his/her child is appropriately and fully educated. The local church and school facilitates the child’s education as a component of the training the child receives in the home. If any part of this educational ‘stool’ is missing or lacking, the child will not be fully or successfully educated. In short, a responsible parent or guardian who does not select a Christ-centered environment to facilitate the child’s education cannot and should not expect the child to be fully educated, trained, and made ready for the world system with which the child will be faced upon adulthood. Regrettably, the child will lack the ability to comprehensively think, discern, reason, and resolve. Knowing this, WOOCA endeavors to impact the lives of its students and their families through a comprehensive classical education method predicated on the precepts of God; the partnership of the parent/guardian with the school; the leadership and staff’s reliance on daily prayer with faith; and the strict adherence to a structured, creative, and disciplined environment.
