☔ WEATHER UPDATE FOR THIS WEEKEND ☔
With close to 120 teams participating this weekend, I can assure you there is nobody watching the weather more closely than the BASE staff right now.
The current forecast shows some rain chances on Saturday, with a greater chance of rain on Sunday. While forecasts can and do change, we want everyone to know where our heads are at as we prepare for the weekend.
At this time, we are moving forward exactly as scheduled with two pool games and a double-elimination bracket format.
Tomorrow, prior to the start of bracket play (around 1 O’clock), we will evaluate field conditions, updated forecasts, and our ability to safely and fairly complete the event. At that time, one of two things will happen:
• We will remain in a double-elimination bracket if conditions support it.• We may move to a single-elimination bracket if necessary to maximize our chances of completing the tournament and provide additional flexibility should weather delays occur.
There is simply no way to move an event of this size entirely to Saturday, and while some divisions could potentially be adjusted, others could not. Any decision we make will be based on one goal: giving our athletes the best opportunity to play as much softball as possible while maintaining safe playing conditions.
This does not appear to be a significant thunderstorm or lightning event at this time. Our primary concern is managing rainfall, protecting field conditions, and ensuring player safety.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. We know teams invest time, money, and effort to be here, and we take that responsibility seriously. We will continue to communicate as information becomes available and will make decisions based on what gives us the best chance to complete a quality event for everyone involved.
Thank you for trusting BASE. We'll keep you updated.
