Last night at 6pm in Mashpee a 22 year old Male unfortunately passed away due to drowning in a Pond...
Folks, we are an active, tidal, wave, beach. Often getting at least knee high waves alternating currents, rips, and under tows. We have an excellent lifeguarding staff. But we also have a Large population that enjoys the beach after the lifeguards have put in their days hours.
Please swim with a buddy. Since the dawn of time this has been instilled in me! Or at least swim near someone else who you feel could maybe help you in the case of need.
Always when available swim in front of a lifeguard. But I am speaking more about when Lifeguards aren't on duty. And how quick in the ocean things can turn bad.
We all read about these senseless tragedies every year and how they can be avoided... here are just a few ways. Knowing your own ability is probably the most important!
Please be safe, use your head, always know before you go..... always swim with a buddy
Have a great summer!

In this week's Lifeguard spotlight:

We drop in on the guards doing morning drills on the rescue boards for multiple victims. It was also shared with me that 2 guards were spotted assisting a patron into the water on a Hot 🔥 June day.
Lifeguards are there to assist you folks. If you ever need a hand down the rocks, into or out of the water. They are always ready to lend a helping hand to our beach patrons.

***NEWS***
After viewing my post yesterday in regards to the Plovers. The Management at the beach was notified by The Nature Conservancy that we actually have 23 chick's (Plover Chicks) this season! This has been described as "incredible over the last 2 seasons"
Lets continue inviting back the Plover!
Have a great day everyone!

*** ATTENTION PLEASE NO DOGS ON ***
***GOOSEWING***
Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus)
A federally protected small sandy colored bird that breeds on coastal shores. Ours in fact!
At just 7 inches long this cute little winged animal. Actually eats foraged worms, insects and crustaceans. Often coaxing them out of the sand with vibrations in their feet. Where they pat the sand with one foot.
You will notice that on Goosewing Beach. Just past the creek at the end of the parking lot. Are the beginnings of some roped off areas where these migratory birds set up shop to drop and hatch eggs. Which usually incubate for up to 4 weeks.
Now 4 weeks on the beach for any egg is risky. Between seagulls, coyotes, turtles, and the random deer walking over a possible nest...LOTS CAN HAPPEN!!
We can do our part! By staying out of the roped in areas and keeping our animals on a leash at the beach! These birds and their eggs are counting on it for their survival!
Thank you to the Nature Conservancy for all the work they put in monitoring and keeping up with the barriers on a yearly basis. So these birds at least have a fighting chance.

Good Morning,
My largest inquiry this summer has been in relation to season passes and their immediate acquisition.
Unfortunately, we do not sell them online.
You, may only purchase them during operating hours between 8am and 4pm daily when the beach is open(weather permitting).
The cost for the Season of 2026 is $250.00. This may be paid with a check or with cash. We do not at this time accept credit cards. We have no power in our small shack on the beach to accept debit or credit for any transaction.
I hope this helps!
Have a great season!

Good Morning!Hope Everyone is enjoying the day, the weekend, the beach!

Yesterday the crew was fortunate enough to have an Accelerated Oceanography Class for Lifeguards.
🌙 + 🌞 = tides
The lecture covered important topics like gravity. As you can see Kayla tossing a stone, and Bruce holding another larger stone. Gravitational pull, ebb and flow, as well as other important water based topics. Were also discussed with the staff.
