That's who today is for. Machinists, fabricators, and everybody in the trades keeping shops like ours running.

Bench Tip: the extractor pin is solid steel and small.

A flat punch that size skates off the head and marks the bolt. There is not much steel in a 1/16 shank either, so it bends or snaps, usually at the worst moment.

Reach for the 1/16 roll pin punch instead. The cupped tip captures the pin and holds center. So the pin moves and the finish stays put. The roll pin holder puts everything back the same way.

The sport only continues if somebody takes the time to teach the next person.

That work does not get much attention. It is not a highlight reel and it is not a match result. It is patience, repetition, and making sure the fundamentals are solid before anything else happens. Safety first, then the shot.

Every one of us got here because somebody was willing to do that. The people who keep showing up to do it are what holds this community together, and we are glad to be around them.

Where the reload happens, which target comes first, what the plan is when something does not go the way it was drawn up. Before the work starts, everything has a place.

A roll that lays flat, punches that seat where you left them, and nothing rolling off the edge of the bench halfway through a job. Anyone who has spent real time at a bench knows how much that matters when you are reaching for a tool without taking your eyes off the work.

The buzzer isn't the interesting part of a match. Between stages is; that's when you find out whether the work you did on the bench two weeks ago actually held. Loose mount, backed-out screw, sling that shifted a half inch. Nationals finds all of it.

Team shooters Chad and Seth at Multigun Nationals. Both of these guys run our gear all season and tell us when something's wrong.
