TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: Miss Amelia

“I love working at LAD because I get to teach young girls about the very art that I’ve loved my whole life. I also now get to work with some of my former teachers and friends I’ve grown up dancing with! LAD has been my home for 20 years now, and I’m so glad to still be a part of the family!”

Amelia Risser began dancing at Lititz Academy of Dance in 2006 at age 5. Throughout the years, she studied each genre offered under her incredible teachers and discovered a true love for dance. She was a member of the Cojomotion Dance Company from 2013-2020, where she performed in the annual “A Season For Wishes” show for Make-A-Wish, along with many other performance opportunities on and off the stage. Through LAD, she attended master classes at the studio and Broadway Dance Center, as well as choreographed pieces for Cojomotion’s “A Chance to Dance” showcase.

After graduating from LAD in 2020, Amelia attended Slippery Rock University, where she studied various dance techniques under many amazing professors and participated in SRU Dance Theatre. She was a member of the National Honors Society of Dance Arts. In April 2024, she presented her Senior Capstone research at the Slippery Rock Research Symposium, focusing on the benefit of dance and movement in school settings. She graduated summa cm laude with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance in December 2024.

Amelia was a junior teacher and a substitute teacher at LAD over the last few years and is overjoyed to now teach her own classes! She hopes to implement and teach her students everything she’s learned from her teachers and professors. She hopes her love of dance and LAD is evident to her students!

“I am currently a senior Molecular Biology major with a Chemistry minor at Millersville University planning to graduate in the spring. I am also Company Captain for the dance club I attend called Expressions Dance. I am so thankful to have been a part of the LAD family. This studio has provided not only dance training, but life long skills. I love how dedicated the teachers are to making sure you get the proper dance training. Everyone is so supportive and welcoming. It really is the best place to dance!”

3 years at LAD

“I could not be more grateful to be teaching our youngest dancers at LAD. It is the most special “job” to me teaching them to LOVE dance for the very first time. Where their love of dance first begins is so important and I am so proud to be that first stepping stone for them. I got to grow up dancing at the studio and I love watching them grow too.”

Miss Angelina began dancing right here at Lititz Academy of Dance when she was 5 years old. During her time dancing, she took Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, and Modern. She graduated from Warwick High School in 2019, and went to college for 2 years in California. She moved back home to Lititz and started teaching dance here with us in August of 2024. She has a passion for teaching some of our youngest dancers, and helping them find their love for dance at an early age. Angelina lives in Lititz with her husband Isaac, and their Mini-Bernedoodle, Tucker. Outside of the studio, she is a behavior support assistant at an elementary school, and is currently going back to college to become a teacher. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks with Tucker, spending time with her friends and family, and going out to eat.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: ISABELLA JOHNSON, Class of 2019❤️❤️❤️
“My time at LAD was transformative in every capacity! Beginning dance classes at age 11 on a whim was quite intimidating to me, but I will never forget the instant love and safety I experienced when I walked through the doors of LAD. My experience at LAD led me to going all-in with my teammates as we helped Liberty University’s student-run dance team launch into the university’s first D1 competitive dance team- one of the most incredible experiences of my life to date. Years later, I am a financial planner in Atlanta, but I love plugging into the dance scene in ATL as much as I possibly can. I owe LAD every thank you imaginable for the gift that it has been to me.”

“I love teaching at LAD because it is safe space to be myself. It’s where I learned to move and groove, and I’m passionate about sharing that with others!”

Jessica McGlynn started dancing as a student with LAD in 2003, with plans to socialize in a tap class with her friends. She grew to love dance as an artistic outlet and physical form of expression. After transferring to Temple University, she completed her BFA in dance performance and choreography. Jessica returned to LAD in 2016 to teach on staff while completing her MA in clinical counseling psychology at Eastern University. Jessica works as a mental health therapist (LPC) and continues to foster her passion for dance while teaching at LAD, with the goal to become registered as a dance / movement therapist to integrate her educational and professional backgrounds. In her spare time, Miss Jess likes to read, practice yoga, hike and walk with her dog, and spend quality time with her family and friends.

ALUMNI - WHERE ARE THEY NOW - our sweet Katelyn Young, Class of 2019❤️

My name is Katelyn Young and I was LAD Class of 2019! I’m currently living in Newark DE working at Boeing as a Systems Engineer contributing to the Sustainment plan for our Germany Chinook program. I’m dog mom to my golden retriever Willow and I skate on Team Delaware Adult Synchronized Skating Team. Lititz Academy of Dance was such a fun and supportive place to grow up. The teachers here taught me how much I was capable of through instilling a great work ethic and enforcing a positive attitude in every dance class. Through CoJoMotion Dance Company I learned that you can do something you love while giving back and helping others in the community. The LAD staff, dancers, and community were such powerful role models to have as a young girl. Anyone would be lucky to be a part of this family!❤️

ALUMNI - WHERE ARE THEY NOW - ARIELLE STROSSER, Class of 2011❤️
“I am currently living in Cleveland, OH where I bartend and bar manage for Morton’s the Steakhouse. I also enjoy doing my biggest passion, which is teaching and choreographing jazz and heels with the all adult dance company, Cleveland Dance Project. LAD has taught me the training tools I use today to work with my dancers and cultivated such a loving, family-feeling environment! Entering the dance world as an adult has proven that LAD provided me with proper knowledge and technique helping me to be successful to stand out amongst the best!”
