More than 85 miles of singletrack twist through sandy pine flatwoods and an old limestone quarry just south of downtown Ocala. That web of trails is Santos, a signature section of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway. Routes are color coded, yellow for beginner, blue for intermediate and red for advanced, so riders can build confidence loop by loop before dropping into the Vortex, a former quarry packed with technical singletrack and freeride features that include a twenty foot drop.

The Ocala Mountain Bike Association has shaped this system since volunteer trail building began here in 1993, and the work earned Santos an IMBA Epic designation along with Bronze level Ride Center status. Riding is only part of it. The greenway also carries paved cycling paths, more than 60 miles of horse trails, and a stretch of the Florida National Scenic Trail. The trailhead has a pump track and skills area for testing features before you commit, plus restrooms, potable water, bike wash racks and picnic pavilions. A small campground with water and electric sites lets you stay and ride again in the morning. Have you visited Santos Trailhead & Cross Florida Greenway Trails?

Good Morning Alafia riders!

As you all know, maintaining our trail system is a constant work in progress. Managing materials, volunteers, and keeping up with erosion and vegetation growth is a full time endeavor. Many of you have asked about donating time, resources and money to help with these tasks and we appreciate that! We are in the process of setting up a Citizens Support Organization (CSO) so that we can accept donations. That involves many steps with the state and is a lengthy process.

***We are in current need of a lawyer to do a legal review of our proposed Bylaws. We are reaching out to our community in hopes that we have someone with the skills necessary to assist with the that.***

Please contact the page via messenger if you are able to help. Once we get our CSO fully set up we will be in a position to accept donations.
