Apparently, I love two things: rodeos and connecting people.

A friend pointed something out to me recently that made me laugh because it’s so true. My business, Custom Cleanups LLC, is literally hundreds of miles away in Florida. I successfully run it remotely from Northern Virginia, so technically, I have absolutely no reason to be out networking for it here.

Yet… there I am. Meeting people. Introducing people. Asking what they do. Figuring out who they should know. Showing up at local events. Getting involved in the community.

Because somewhere along the way I realized that connecting people is just part of who I am. I don’t network because I need something from someone. I genuinely love learning about people, their businesses and their stories — and I especially love that moment when I realize, “Wait… you need to meet so-and-so!”

That’s also a huge part of Inspire Like a Rockstar. Business isn’t only about sales, followers or what someone can do for you. Sometimes the best opportunities start simply because you showed up, had a conversation and built a real relationship.

So if you see the German lady in Northern Virginia who owns a cleaning company in Florida, coaches business owners, somehow knows somebody you should probably meet, and occasionally shows up dressed for a rodeo…

I have to give a little local-business shoutout to pampasfoxcatering and owner Lucia Virasoro Bruno!

If you haven’t checked them out yet, you absolutely should. Pampa’s Fox is a family-owned Nokesville business with Argentinian roots offering everything from their famous handmade empanadas and made-from-scratch pastries and cakes to customized catering for weddings, corporate events, parties and other special occasions. They can do everything from hors d’oeuvres and buffets to plated meals and custom menus.

And today was one of those reminders of why supporting local matters. I walked in completely unannounced, without an actual preorder, needing quite a bit of food — some for my family tonight and a meal I’m bringing to another family — and Lucia made it happen for me. ❤️

I walked out with one BIG bag of food and an even bigger appreciation for another local business owner who simply said, “We’ll figure it out.”

Nokesville friends, go check out Pampa’s Fox. Eat local. Cater local. Support the people building businesses right here in our community.

What a great morning with the Nokesville Business Association!

This is what real local networking looks like — business owners showing up, making genuine connections, learning from each other, sharing ideas and supporting one another beyond simply exchanging business cards.

Getting together with this awesome lady never disappoints.

Yes, we talk business. We bounce around ideas, share what’s working, what isn’t, and what we’re learning along the way.

But we also talk about life. Kids. Family. The things weighing on us. The things making us laugh. Because behind every business is still a human being trying to figure it all out.

And today, one part of our conversation really stuck with me:

You can wear 10 hats, but you can’t give 100% to all 10 of them.

If you’re constantly splitting yourself between ten different things, eventually everything gets a fraction of your energy, attention and creativity.

Sometimes growth isn’t about adding another goal, another project, another opportunity or another hat.

Sometimes the biggest growth happens when you ask yourself:

What could happen if I gave ONE thing my full 100%?

Focus can feel like you’re giving something up — but sometimes you’re actually making room for something else to become really, really successful.

Such a great reminder today that doing less doesn’t necessarily mean accomplishing less.

Sometimes it’s exactly how you accomplish more. ❤️

One of our Nokesville Business Association members, Renzinnia Flower Farm in Catlett, is opening their doors for a special Open House on September 18 from 6–8 PM, and I'm planning to go. I can bring guests and would love to take a few of you along with me!

If you've never heard of Renzinnia, they're a beautiful family-owned local flower farm growing fresh and unique flowers right here in Northern Virginia. They offer seasonal bouquets and flower subscriptions, host workshops and special experiences, and they now have an event space available to rent.

Another successful Nokesville Business Association meeting in the books!

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that entrepreneurship can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also be lonely.

I live in Virginia while continuing to own and run a successful business in Florida. Technology makes that possible, but technology can’t replace sitting in a room with other business owners who understand the decisions, challenges, risks, wins, and occasional craziness that come with entrepreneurship.

And networking isn’t always about “What referral can you send me?”

Sometimes it’s about sharing an idea, asking someone how they would handle something, learning from another business owner’s experience, finding a resource you didn’t know existed, celebrating a win with people who understand what it took to get there — or simply realizing you’re not doing this alone.

That’s one of the reasons I value being part of the NBA and our local business community so much.

If you’re a business owner in the Greater Nokesville area, come visit us at an upcoming meeting. You don’t have to walk into the room knowing anyone. That’s exactly how connections begin.

Come network. Come learn. Come contribute. Come find your people.
