Halloween, one of the most successful independent films of all time, was released on this day back in 1978. Did you know the iconic Michael Myers mask was actually made from a Star Trek Captain Kirk mask purchased for less than 2 bucks from a costume shop on Hollywood Boulevard? Production designer Lee Wallace trimmed back the eyebrows, removed the sideburns, darkened the hair, widened the eye holes and painted it a flat white. And Voila!Michael Myers was born. When asked what he thought about his face being used for the character William Shatner stated, "Is that a joke? Are they kidding?" Although Shatner said he was honored by the gesture he's never seen the film.💀🗝🖤
