GLR Staff and Shooters,
As I sit here and type this message I am still in disbelief on everything going on around me. We are weeks away from the 2020 Great Lakes Regional and it saddens me to have to tell you that for the first time in fifteen years we are going to have to cancel our beloved match. With our state currently being shut down due to Covid-19 and the uncertainty of when we are going to finally return to normal, we have no other choice but to cancel the GLR. With everything going on, all of our behind the scenes tasks have come to a screeching halt, and there is no way that we will be able to have everything ready by the current match date.
We discussed rescheduling, but after much debate we determined that was out of the question. With three other major IDPA matches and a USPSA sectional all taking place in our very short summer it is almost impossible for us to find a date that does not conflict with holidays or these other great matches. Not only is the summer calendar packed full, we also had the issue that most of our volunteer staff help out at multiple Michigan matches and we did no want to burn out our amazing staff by having back to back match weekends.
We truly regret having to make this decision, but at this time it seems like the best thing to do.
Rest assured the Great Lakes Regional will be back, better than ever next year and we hope to see you all then.
In the meantime, all match fees will be refunded. Please be patient with us, we have never had to do this and are not sure how long the process will take.
