The show must go on, and it certainly did! Rain, wind, fog and cart-path-only conditions couldn’t stop our Mountain High ladies from enjoying two days of competition under the Big Top.
 
Congratulations to our back-to-back Overall Champions Jorj Morgan, Susan Fazio, Marcia Trantas and Donna Coleman, and to our Gross Champions Mary Ann Soldo, Tracey Gregory, Mincha Will and Margaret Horowitz, who finished at an impressive three under par.
 
A round of applause to our flight winners and all who joined us for another memorable Mountain High. Despite Mother Nature’s circus act, these ladies kept swinging!

Mountain High – Ladies’ Member-Guest Golf Tournament: Under the Big Top Party | August 13, 2026
 
The circus came to town at Linville Ridge, and our Mountain High ladies proved they were more than ready to clown around!
 
For the “Swinging Under the Big Top” party, participants traded their golf attire for costumes and stepped right into the center ring. The evening brought out an entire cast of circus characters—from ringmasters and clowns to mimes, bearded ladies, strongwomen, elephants and more. There were wigs, red noses, top hats, tutus and a whole lot of creativity on display.
 
The circus theme carried throughout the evening with colorful décor, festive food stations, cocktails, dinner and plenty of dancing. And while what happens under the Big Top usually stays under the Big Top, these costumes were simply too good not to share!
 
Thank you to all of our ladies for being such great sports and truly embracing the theme. No clowning around—the creativity may have been the greatest show on the mountain!

Mountain High – Ladies’ Member-Guest Golf Tournament: Co-Ed Cocktail Party | August 12, 2026
 
The circus continued into the evening as Mountain High members, guests, and spouses gathered for a Co-Ed Cocktail Party under the Big Top!
 
With the “Swinging Under the Big Top” theme in full swing, the evening featured cocktails, live music, and a putting contest that brought everyone into the act. From tricky putts and plenty of laughs on the green to music and conversation on the terrace, there was no shortage of fun as spectators cheered on the evening’s putting performers.
 
Circus-inspired touches carried through the night, including playful décor and a menu filled with nostalgic treats worthy of the midway. It was the perfect way to wrap up the first day of Mountain High—good friends, great views, and plenty of fun before the tournament continued the following morning.

Mountain High – Ladies’ Member-Guest Golf Tournament: Par 3 | August 12, 2026
 
Mountain High stepped right up for the opening day of our Ladies’ Member-Guest Golf Tournament, Swinging Under the Big Top!
 
The Par 3 Tournament brought members and their guests together for a playful afternoon on the course, with teams embracing the circus theme in colorful coordinated outfits—from clowns and ringmasters to plenty of creative touches worthy of the Big Top.
 
Despite a few clouds overhead, the mountain setting provided a beautiful backdrop as the ladies enjoyed golf, friendship, and plenty of laughs along the way. It was a fun and festive way to kick off three days of Mountain High competition and camaraderie.
 
Thank you to all of our members and guests who joined in the spirit of the theme and helped get Mountain High off to a memorable start!

Croquet Dinner | August 10, 2026

Croquet players gathered for an evening off the court for a Croquet Dinner in the Summer Kitchen.  They enjoyed good food, conversation, and time together.

Set against a beautiful mountain evening, the dinner offered a chance for players and friends to trade their mallets for a seat at the table and enjoy the camaraderie that makes our croquet community so special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a relaxed evening among friends and fellow players. We look forward to many more matches, and gatherings in the future!

Linville Ridge 38th Annual Pro-Am Dinner & Calcutta | August 7, 2026

The 38th Annual Linville Ridge Tennis & Pickleball Pro-Am weekend kicked off with the annual Pro-Am Dinner & Calcutta, bringing members and professionals together for an evening of dinner, friendly bidding, and plenty of anticipation for the weekend ahead.

With 12 professional tennis players participating, members had the opportunity to bid on the pros individually, with each winning bidder earning the chance to team up with their pro for Saturday’s tournament. Winning bidders could also gift or split their pro, adding to the fun of the evening.

The pickleball pairings brought a different twist with a Balloon Draw. Members made a donation to select a balloon and then popped it to discover which pickleball professional they would be paired with for Sunday’s match play.
Between the bidding, balloon popping, introductions, and time spent with the pros, it was a fun way to launch a weekend of racquet sports while coming together in support of two wonderful local organizations, Avery Humane Society and Scooter’s Underdog Rescue.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make the evening, and the entire Pro-Am weekend, possible.

Linville Ridge 38th Annual Pro-Am – Pickleball | August 9, 2026

The courts were busy on Sunday as members and pros came together for the pickleball portion of the 38th Annual Linville Ridge Tennis & Pickleball Pro-Am.

Congratulations to Bryan Twente and Dean Dancer, champions of the Pickleball Pro-Am, and Skylar Warren and Deso Borov, who captured the Pickleball Pro-Pro title.

More importantly, the weekend brought our racquet sports community together for a great cause. Between the tennis and pickleball events, this year’s Pro-Am raised an incredible $31,000 for Avery Humane Society and Scooter’s Underdog Rescue, supporting the important work both organizations do for animals in our community.

Thank you to our players, pros, spectators and everyone who contributed to another successful Pro-Am weekend at Linville Ridge.

Members gathered at View 180 for An Evening in Mexico City, a colorful dinner inspired by the flavors and spirit of Mexico.
 
A beautiful buffet featured an array of Mexican favorites, with fresh salsas, colorful accompaniments, warm tortillas, and dishes prepared to order. Festive touches throughout the dining room brought the theme to life, while members enjoyed dinner with friends against a backdrop of sweeping mountain views.
 
It was a relaxed summer evening filled with good food, great company, and a little taste of Mexico on the Ridge.

Linville Ridge 38th Annual Pro-Am – Tennis | August 8, 2026

The courts were filled with great tennis, familiar faces, and plenty of camaraderie as members teamed up with an impressive group of professionals for the 38th Annual Linville Ridge Tennis & Pickleball Pro-Am.

Saturday’s tennis competition featured 12 Pro-Am teams divided into three flights, beginning with round-robin play before the top teams advanced into the tournament bracket. Congratulations to Jesse Witten and Claude Okin, who captured the Tennis Pro-Am Championship.

The day also included the always-popular Pro-Pro competition, giving everyone courtside a chance to watch the professionals battle it out. Congratulations to Adriaan Englbrecht and Lucas Walker, this year’s Tennis Pro-Pro Champions.

But the Pro-Am has always been about much more than what happens on the court. This year’s Tennis & Pickleball Pro-Am raised an incredible $31,000 for Avery Humane Society and Scooter’s Underdog Rescue, with 100% of the charitable proceeds supporting the important work these two local organizations do for abandoned, lost, abused, and neglected animals in Avery County.

From morning coffee at the courts and spirited match play to the silent auction, spectators, four-legged visitors, and friends cheering from the sidelines, it was a wonderful day celebrating tennis, community, and a longtime Linville Ridge tradition.

A special thank you to our professionals, members, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who participated, donated, bid, or came out to support this year’s Pro-Am.

Pickleball Round Robin | August 1, 2026

Members kicked off August with another fun-filled Pickleball Round Robin, enjoying an afternoon of friendly competition, great rallies, and plenty of laughs on the courts.

Players rotated partners throughout the event, creating opportunities to meet new opponents, reconnect with friends, and enjoy spirited play in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Whether competing for points or simply enjoying time on the courts, everyone contributed to another successful day of pickleball at Linville Ridge.

Thank you to everyone who participated...we look forward to seeing you back on the courts for the next Round Robin!
