Our wrestlers are trained in a structured environment that emphasizes technique, fitness, discipline, & sportsmanship. We compete in the Mid-Michigan Wrestling Association (MMWA) and in the Michigan Youth Wrestling Association (MYWAY). Tournaments are held on most weekends from December thru March. Tournament participation is encouraged, but is not mandatory. There are (2) types of tournaments: Op
en & Novice. Open tournaments are generally for more experienced wrestlers & are open to all wrestlers in our club. Novice tournaments are only open to beginner wrestlers who fall under the definition of a “Novice wrestler”. Joining our program this year will be coach Jacob Burge. Coach Burge is not only an outstanding youth coach, but his wrestling background is impeccable. Coach Burge was the former coach of Brighton's Top Dog wrestling program in 2012-2013, those of you that have been involved in high level wrestling know how good “Brighton/Top Dog was last year. He is currently the assistant wrestling coach of Mason High School and he also coaches Team Michigan Blue w/ Coach Skinner for Disney. In high school, Coach Burge was a 4x placer and 2x Undefeated State Champion. He also won the prestigious Super 32 tournament by defeating 2x NCAA Champion Ed Ruth (Penn State) in the finals. In his senior season he also wrestled for Team Michigan Red in Disney where he was voted "Outstanding Wrestler" of the tournament from all of the coaches. Coach Burge went on to wrestle for North Carolina State and Notre Dame of Ohio. We are very fortunate to have Coach Burge join our program and he is excited to take this team to the next level.
