Remember when newspaper used to be printed from a metal plate? I guess those plates got used for signs on barbed wire. Found this out in the woods near the property line.

If you hike be aware that there are ticks, potentially extremely dangerous ticks, on the trails.

I discovered the hike a had last Wednesday likely resulted in a tick when I discovered it attached under my left arm.

All hiking is done at your own risk.

I got chiggers mowing my side yard so was spooked about hiking.

But for no reason!

Most of the paths have no tall grass because the rain apparently washed much of the soil away on the paths.

Beware of mosquitos though! They are out and breeding and feeding on people.

Update on the policy not to exit or enter through the soccer field…

DO NOT GO HIKING THROUGH TO THE MAIN CAMPUS. DO NOT EXIT OR ENTER THROUGH THE SOCCER FIELD. DON’T HIKE PAST THE CABINS OR ON “THE KITCHEN TRAIL.” That’s been standard guidelines for some time now.

CRITICAL UPDATE:
DALE LAWSON HAS INFORMED ME HE FIRES HIS GUNS EAST INTO THE WOODS FROM THE SOCCER FIELD AREA.

Therefore I don’t recommend right now going down past halfway north to south until this policy may change.

Also, mentioned someone has left some folding chairs as trash in the small pond and that the easiest remedy would be to stop all access. This is what I have been concerned, and made some mention of, regarding the “Charlie Brown Christmas Tree “ as well. To the caretakers it’s just trashing the property.

So whoever is leaving items in the woods, however seemingly innocent, is putting at risk access to the trails for all, so please stop this.

Let’s remember this is private property and if we are going to hike the trails we must pack out all items we pack in and respect the grounds.

If anyone sees a cow out on the trails or near your house please contact Heath (and Anna) Koonce at (903) 330-0596.

They lease the land to the east.

I met them while hiking Sunday across the barb wire. They were out looking for a break in the fence after getting a report by Josh on a cow on his property (but the cow had returned by itself.)
