Lincolnton, North Carolina. My name is Michael W. Borich an avid motorsports enthusiast from Lincolnton, North Carolina.

I am a devoted Christian, husband to my wife Madison, father to my son William, and public servant of Lincoln County, NC. I was introduced to drag racing at nine years old as a spectator. A year later, I was racing a half-sized Walt Austin replica junior dragster. I learned most, that racing takes a team effort! With the help of family and friends, I gained knowledge, skill, and experience as we c

ontinued to race weekly. While competing I was able to qualify and attend multiple Eastern Conference Finals of the NHRA JR. Drag Racing League. A dream from an early age was to compete professionally in a full size dragster. Late 2021, I was blessed with a Jim Simpson Race Cars 235 inch Big Block Chevy Dragster! In 2022, I have been competing in the south east region with a goal in the future to compete nationally.

Unfortunately, the 9th Annual Strange Engineering Ronnie Buff Memorial feat. King of the South was cut short by Mother Nature last night. After much discussion, it was decided not to conclude the race on Monday due to continued threats of rain and keeping in mind the long travels home for many of our racers and teams.

The remaining 16 drivers in King of the South agreed to split the purse:

Kelly Jones
Corey Reed
Zach Jones
Ryan Martin
Todd Spiers
Kye Kelly
Jordan Jennings
Shelby Lynn
Ryan Hendrickson
Larry Larson
Josh Davis
Larry Houck
Gabe Sigler
Scott Taylor
Jason Bergstrom
Rick Wetherbee

This weekend may not have gone exactly how we all hoped, but as racers know… sometimes “you get what you get,” and that’s what we all got this weekend. Through every weather delay and every forecast update, our racers, fans, and supporters hung in there with us, and that support means more than we can put into words.

Despite poor weather lingering all weekend, yesterday brought packed stands, unbelievable racing, and some of the toughest competition we’ve seen all year. The energy at Shadyside was incredible, and we’re thankful every single one of you chose to spend your weekend with us.

A huge thank you goes out to our staff and our Shadyside family who worked tirelessly before and during the event to make this race happen. The amount of effort put in behind the scenes does not go unnoticed.

Most importantly, we’re thankful for the safety of our drivers, fans, staff, and teams. We wish everyone safe travels home, and we can’t wait to see you all back at Shadyside soon. ❤️🏁
