Basic CHCL Class coming up Saturday May 30 at 9:00 am.

If you are new to the gun community and desire to carry a handgun for protection, this would be a good starter class for you.

In Arkansas, a CHCL is NOT required for you to carry a handgun concealed or open, if you are legally allowed to own a firearm.

What an Arkansas CHCL is good for, is if you travel across state lines that honor Arkansas CHCL you won’t be carrying illegally. That allows you to carry legally just like you would here at home.

The other benefit of having a CHCL is when you purchase a new firearm, the process is much faster.

Contact me to get registered for the May 30th class. Cost is 80.00.

Our name Diamond Defense, is unique in a couple of ways. First we are based in Arkansas, the Diamond state but that’s not why we use the Diamond. The reason we use the Diamond is because the 4 points of the Diamond, like the Diamond in a suit of cards, represents the 4 Points of the OODA Loop.

The OODA Loop was a term that was coined by an old Air Force pilot illustrating the basic 4 responses to a violent encounter.

Those 4 points are…….
1) Observe
2) Orient
3) Decide
4) Act

The idea is that if your training doesn’t take you through those 4 stages, you will fall short in a violent encounter.

When you first Observe a situation you must quickly Orient yourself to it. Then you must make a Decision on what to do then Act on that decision based on what you have observed and how you’ve oriented yourself to that encounter.

Training must be with purpose not just burning through ammo at a stationary target. You should role play scenarios in your mind, running through the OODA Loop.

Seeing a scenario, positioning yourself to the threat, deciding on what action you’ll take then seeing yourself acting it out. This helps tremendously but you need to train those scenarios out so if you’re ever in that situation, your chances of survival will be greater.

You don’t have to burn expensive ammo to train! Practice dry fire exercises in your home. FIRST and FOREMOST - MAKE SURE YOU WEAPON IS EMPTY AND MADE SAFE! Keep live ammo AWAY from your immediate area while practicing. ALWAYS treat your weapon as if it’s loaded!

1) Practice drawing and charging your weapon from the holster or from wherever you will be wearing it. Do 100’s of reps just drawing from a concealed position.

2) Practice getting a firm grip as you draw from your holster.

3) Make sure your support hand is close to your chest as you pull your weapon. Get your support hand on the weapon as soon as you can - bring the weapon from the holster to the centerline of your body as close to your body as you safely can, then mate your support hand to the weapon just before you begin the presentation. Then slowly push the weapon into firing position with you finger OFF the trigger. Once you have the weapon extended, align sights and place on target, keepping eyes on front sight - then squeeze trigger!

Practice this over and over and over untill it’s smooth as silk!

Never miss an opportunity to train. Remember, you’ll NEVER perform beyond your highest level of training! Get trained and train harder!
