Weight 1/29/24...341.

Weight 2/5/24...330.

Not getting off the wagon this time.

Behind on the Kettlebell swings, dunno if I'll make 10k in 5 more days. That said I've seen some massive improvements in these past 5 days.

1. I started the week at 341lbs. Granted most will be water weight, but some diet changes plus the swings has me at 333 right now.

2. I'm using a 40lb kettlebell. Heaviest I own. On Monday I could do 40-45 swings before failing. Yesterday I hit 82 in several sets.

My biggest issue is how I'm dividing my sets up. I'm aiming for 200 per hour for 5 hours a day. The biggest failing point was that I couldn't easily do more than 40 reps per set at the beginning of the week. This one might just be a test run to get to where I can do 100 reps per set consistently, then I'll try the challenge again.

Missed the past couple of days. Life happened. Going to try something new tomorrow.

Stepped out of my wheelhouse in a big way today with my first lesson in Sumo.

Big thank you to World Games competitor Andrew Roden for coming down and teaching. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Over the past couple of years I've followed a few new martial arts pages (specifically Muay Thai as its my favorite). One page in particular has guys still taking fights in their late 40's, 50's, and 60's. It's flippin nuts. That said, it's sparked a new motivation in this 42 year old. I'm 6 to 8 months away from having my cardio/conditioning back to where I feel comfortable looking for a fight, but it's coming. Ive also got to drop about 70 more lbs.

I'm on week 2 of a new routine, here's a snapshot of the hell I've started putting myself through.

I've been thinking a lot lately. An while I've watched this video many times, it's been a catalyst for some recent changes I'm making for myself.

In the fitness industry we hear so much about setting goals and working to achieve them. One big change I'm about to try and make in effort to help my mental health I'm going to quit considering chores...chores. instead I'm going to try and look at them as little goals to set and even accomplishments. The word chore has a negative stigma anyways. Sure, I may not enjoy doing them any more than I do now, but mentally knowing I'm working towards accomplishing something makes them easier. That way, even if the only thing I've done today is make my bed, I've accomplished something.

It also helps that not only have I made mine, but my 4 and 5 year old have (with help) worked to make theirs the past 3 days.

For Christmas my wonderful wife got me an adjustable kettlebell for Christmas. Since I finally have a kettlebell in my home gym I'm starting a challenge that has beaten me twice.

10,000 kettlebell swings in 10 days.

This times it's my turn. 500 down.

P.S. this winter weather can leave any time. 14 degrees at the track cut my walk/jog in half. I miss summer.

2 hours of a strongman shoulder workout plus cardio. Not a bad start to a Saturday.

Secondly, I started a new thing this week. 20 Day Cold Shower challenge. If you know me, you know I despise being cold. So I'm starting with baby steps.

New weigh in...329. Finally in the 320's.

Haven't had time to really work out and do like I want, I've spent a lot of time the past couple of months redoing our deck. Finally got the flooring done yesterday. Between the activity and the heat, that's forced me to eating far, far less than normal.

I did manage to get a few small workouts in the past couple of weeks, going to try and step it up a notch this week.

Getting back at it.

Life got in the way a couple of months ago. We decided to redo our deck and honestly, I've spent so much time on it I've not worked out, trained martial arts, or much of anything except work on the deck in about a month and a half.

Still dropping weight though, but its mostly cause being out in the heat keeps me from wanting to eat.

Hit 331 this morning, planning on being in the 320's next week.

Just wrapped up chest day in between working and house chores, gotta find time to hit some cardio today and a few rounds on the bag and I'll be set.
