It’s time to GATHER together for another First Friday! Join us October 2nd at 6 PM for an immersive improv installation hosted by students and faculty!

What is Immersive Improvisation? 👀

An immersive improv installation is a performance where dancers improvise movement within a specific space while the audience is invited to possibly move around, explore, and experience the dance from different perspectives. Rather than simply watching a traditional performance, the space, objects, sounds, dancers, and audience can all influence how movement is created and how dancers respond in the moment!

JOY! We are still reminiscing on our first First Friday of the semester! What a wonderful experience it was to see our community come together and explore the feeling of joy.

Shoutout to undergraduate student Megan Marasco who presented her screendance “Where the Water Runs,”undergraduate student Talia Markussen, who presented her work “Yes, and?” and alumna Shelley Brackhsn Fritz who got everyone up and moving with an immersive merengue installation!

All three works gave us the opportunity to experience joy together, and that alone is a gift. Thank you to Hye-Won Hwang for helping organize this event and to Orchesis Dance Group for sponsoring refreshments!

Auditions for the Student Dance Project and Evenings of Dance are almost here!
Whether you’re a dance major, minor, or just looking to keep dancing while at UNL, Student Dance Project is open to dancers of all majors and backgrounds. It’s a chance to perform, collaborate with student choreographers, and become part of UNL’s dance community.

First Friday is back🎉 Join Orchesis Dance Club on Friday April 3, 2026 at 7:30pm for their annual spring showcase! 🌷

UNLeashed features student from across campus with many involved in the Dance Program, has FREE admission, and is open to the public! Event located in Kimball Recital Hall. Can’t wait to join you there!💃

ACDA 2026 recap! 🩰🌟🪩 Our program had the opportunity and privilege to spend 5 fun days in Minneapolis, MN! We had a fun time connecting with peers, taking classes from amazing artists, and being inspired by all the amazing work we saw! We had the honor to bring 3 pieces to the conference. The pieces shown are as follows:

🌟 Undergraduate student Meg Brady presented her work titled “Impressionism” for adjudication.

🌟 Undergraduate student Talia Markussen presented her work titled “Within Arms Reach” for adjudication.

🌟 Undergraduate student Sierra (SJ) Eschliman .eschliman presented her work titled “Impending” for informal.

We are so proud of all of our dancers, choreographers and faculty for their hard work. Thank you to for hosting and for a wonderful time!

Auditions are here! If you are interested in becoming a dance major in the Fall of 2026, we welcome you to join us for auditions this Friday, January 23, and Saturday, February 28!
What to expect? Students are encouraged to arrive at 8:45 am to get settled before class begins. The audition class will run from 9-10:15. After, students will conduct short interviews with staff, meet current dance majors, and watch some amazing clips of program performances! Lastly, join us for lunch at Cather Dining Hall from 11-12! Can’t wait to see you there✨
