5 years ago Jonny and I bought Mountain High Fly , we were nervous, excited and had no idea what we were doing.
Jon was the energy of this place . I feel him every time I step through the door. His artistic eye and attention to detail combined with his deep knowledge, and passion for not only fishing but all outdoor activity made MHF what it is.
Folks traveled from across the state, region and even country to chat with him and pick his brain.
When we lost Jonny in the spring of ‘22 there was no doubt in my mind I had to keep the shop going. I had to do it for myself, to feel connected to him. I also had to do it to give the community a place to grieve, a place to visit him and remember his dedication to sportsmanship. I still meet people who come into the shop to share a story of how they met Jon either there, or on the river somewhere. The closeness of this community and the support it provided through the last few years will always keep me going.
So, it is with fondness deep in my soul that I am announcing at the end of October MHF will be closing the storefront. The decision to do this was one of the most difficult things I have had to do since losing him.
I listened to some of Jonny’s old music recordings before writing this and heard his voice for the first time in a long while. It felt like I was hanging out with him, and I know that he would understand the need I now have to close this door.
Thank you all for the last 5 years of support! Come visit us this fall grab some gear and say goodbye! We’ll be moving inventory online soon too so keep an eye out!
Mountain high, river wide, so many roads to ride…so many roads to ease my soul.
