The girls take on Mio at home tonight. We will also celebrate our seniors between games. Come on out and support the tigers.

The lady Tigers took two more last night in Whittemore bringing their record up to 12-6.

Game 1:
Elliyana Grimshaw drove in five runs on three hits to lead Alcona Varsity Tigers past Whittemore-Prescott 22-11. She hit a grand slam to right field in the third inning, scoring four runs, and had 2 singles. Claire Somers added 2 singles, Delilah Boden, Jordyn Somers and Zoey O'Connor added a single each and Sawyer Somers added a triple.

Claire Somers earned the win for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The pitcher surrendered two hits and 11 runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out 10 and walking 9.

Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 13 walks for the game. Elliyana Grimshaw, Claire Somers, Zoey O'Connor, Adriana Grimshaw, and Jordyn Somers each stole multiple bases for Alcona Varsity Tigers.

Game 2:

Alcona Varsity Tigers won big over Whittemore-Prescott 16-1 in 2.5 innings.

Lily Barth singled, Claire Somers tripled twice and added a single, Adriana Grimshaw added 3 singles and Jordyn Somers had an in the park homerun!

Adriana Grimshaw earned the win for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The southpaw surrendered zero hits and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking two.

Next up for Alcona Varsity Tigers is a game against Mio-Au Sable Varsity Thunderbolts on Monday.

The Varsity Softball team took 2 last night on the road against Charlton Heston.
In game one, the Tigers won 10-8. Adriana Grimshaw earned the win for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The starter allowed four hits and eight runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking six.
Offensively, Adriana Grimshaw and Zoey O'Connor had two hits, a single and double each. Elliyana Grimsahw, Lily Barth, and Claire Somers added two singles each. Sawyer Somers and Jordyn Somers both had a single.
In game two, Alcona Varsity Tigers came back to win 12-10 despite trailing 4-0 in the third. Claire Somers earned the win for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The starter surrendered four hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking 13. Jordyn Somers threw one and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Alcona Varsity Tigers in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking two.
Offensively, Adriana Grimsahw led the Tigers with 2 hits on 3 at-bats. She had a triple and double. Zoey O'Connor and Lily Barth both added a double each. Rylee Kroon, Elliyana Grimshaw, Jordyn Somers, and Claire Somers also added a single each.
Overall, it was a great night for the Tigers. They were able to battle through when behind and stay ahead when needed to bring home the wins. Despite the cold, the girls stayed strong as a team and never gave up.

Alcona took a while to show up in their games last night and split with AuGres.

Game 1: Loss 2-10

Claire Somers took the loss for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The starter went three and one-third innings, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking eight.

Elliyana Grimshaw and Lily Barth each collected two hits for Alcona Varsity Tigers. Lily Barth led Alcona Varsity Tigers with one run batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Rylee Kroon added a single.

Game 2: Alcona Varsity Tigers rallied to best Au Gres-Sims 16-6 on Thursday at Au Gres-Sims Middle & High School. Alcona Varsity Tigers trailed by as many as six runs during the game.

Adriana Grimshaw earned the win for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The starter allowed five hits and six runs over five innings, striking out three and walking 12. Alcona Varsity Tigers amassed 16 hits in the game. Adriana Grimshaw went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Alcona Varsity Tigers in hits. Elliyana Grimshaw, Rylee Kroon, and Lily Barth each drove in three runs for Alcona Varsity Tigers. Zoey O'Connor and Nyhia Jackson each collected multiple hits for Alcona Varsity Tigers. Alcona Varsity Tigers had a strong eye at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.

Overall it would have been great to take two, but a split is better than 2 losses. The girls still are working on minimizing errors and building that mental strength. Check out a clip below for a game highlight.

We are on the road tonight as we face off against AuGres.

Two tough losses tonight against Rogers City. Overall we had too many errors on the field that cost us runs.

Game 1: Despite Out Hitting Rogers City the Tigers fell 3-9.

Claire Somers had a double (video attached) and a single, Jordyn Somers had a double, Lily Barth had a single and Addison Birk collected two singles for Alcona Varsity Tigers.

Claire Somers took the loss for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The right-handed pitcher went six innings, giving up nine runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out 10 and walking 10.

Game 2: Alcona Varsity Tigers fell 10-2.

Jordyn Somers pitched four and one-third innings in relief for Adriana Grimshaw. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (one earned) while, striking out three and walking two. Adriana Grimshaw took the loss for Alcona Varsity Tigers. The lefty went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering four runs (three earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking three.

Adriana Grimshaw went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Jordyn Somers collected two hits in three at bats and Lily Barth had a hit. Elliyana Grimshaw turned a double play in the game.

Alcona Varsity Tigers will travel to Au Gres-Sims for their next game on Thursday.
