This game and this night and this girl will never NOT be a part of my heart.
The story of this night was shared a few thousand times. On Facebook, on the news, on the radio.
Maddie is hanging in. Her smile is still as infectious as it was this night 2 months ago. Her laughter still brings a laugh from anyone who hears it.
Maddie and her family welcome all the prayers, well wishes and love you want to give.
Original post from my personal account is below (links to additional pics and her gofundme are below as well):
Some things will just stay with you forever.
For Twelve Bridges, for Wheatland, for the coaches, players, families.....last night will be one of them.
Earlier this week Twelve Bridges decided to dedicate the 9/16 game to Maddie Ochoa. Maddie is the older sister of 12B player, Nick Ochoa ( #77) she is battling end stage leukemia.
Wheatland leadership got wind of the dedication, and even though it was their homecoming night...they went ALL out for Maddie and her family.
Ribbons in orange painted on the field. Both teams wearing orange. Both sides wearing orange, the orange balloons all over the stadium. Maddie getting to be there for the coin toss. Maddie riding in the homecoming parade at 1/2 time. The orange roses from our boys...the after game hugs from EVERY SINGLE PLAYER and coach from both teams. The group pic. KCRA 3 interviews. The sportsmanship displayed.
The tears and emotions, the laughter and smiles....engrained in our brains.
Maddie, You are loved.
Thank you for allowing me to capture these for you and your amazing family.
