She’s 5’6”. And she can score in more ways than just hitting hard.
What you didn’t hear in this clip was me asking her to hit the 4 seam… and then watching her do it on the very next ball.
That’s what we want from great hitters: the ability to change shots on demand.
If you hit the same shot over and over, blockers and defenders get to camp out. But when you can see the court, hear a cue, and intentionally change where you attack, you become a much harder player to defend.
One of our favorites? TOTS — Take Out The Setter.
But we’re also looking for opportunities to make an off-blocker OH play defense. If we can force a hitter to dig a tough ball and take them out of the offense, we’ve done more than just keep the ball off the floor — we’ve affected what happens next and given our defense better odds.
At 5’6”, you don’t get to rely on simply hitting over everyone.
You learn to see the game.
You learn to use the whole court.
And you learn how to create points with intention.
Great hitters don’t just have shots.
They can choose them on demand.
